He opened his mouth, then closed it. He opened it again, only to close it once more.

Finally, he asked, “Why are you here?”

No more stalling. It was time to tell him my problem. He was my guardian. It was his duty to help me.

“I didn’t mean to come here.” Must you stand so close to me? “I went to bed, and this is where I woke up.” Must you smell so damn good?

His eyebrow raised. “Were you thinking of me when you fell asleep?”

His shadows inched closer to me.

“What? No. Of course not. Why would I?” I answered, sounding guilty as fuck.

I could feel the energy his shadows were emitting. It made me slightly dizzy. Not in a bad way. In a lusty way. I’d never seen them transition into their physical forms. That was exactly what they were currently doing. My gaze roamed over each of them. I’d seen glimpses of their physical bodies.

Like when they revealed their smiles to me. Or when Charm caught me, revealing his long, pale fingers to me. This was the first time I’d stared at the four of them in their full physical forms. It made them harder to ignore. I’d known they’d look like Vayn. Shadows were made in the image of their Fallen.

However, there were slight differences between them. Rage’s jaw was more chiseled than the others, even Vayn's. Though all the shadows were muscular, like their Fallen, Rage was more muscular, which was saying something. I mean, damn, he was sexy. Whenever he’d showed up while I was training, he’d done what he could to protect me.

For that reason alone, I couldn’t help but yearn to be closer to him. Charm exuded sex appeal and big dick energy. His gaze was cocky, confident, irresistible, living up to his name. Though his gaze was intense, there was kindness in the depths of his dark eyes. A kindness that made me want to move closer to him.

Bliss looked deadly, just like the rest of them. Yet, there was a smirk on his face that fit his name. He looked happy to be near me, which made me want to be near him. Then there was the last one, which I’d yet to meet.

“Hi,” I said, extending my hand to the new shadow.

A growl rose from the other shadows. Wait. Had I heard Vayn growl also? Ignoring the others, the final shadow stretched his hand out to me.

“Hi, little one,” he said, voice deep, raspy, sexy as sin. “I’m Dread.”

Dread? A shiver raced down my spine.

“I’m happy to finally meet you,” he told me, before leaning down to press his lips against the back of my hand.

Yeah, I was definitely hearing Vayn growl now. I ignored him as a blush crept into my cheeks and a flush of heat washed over my flesh. This shadow’s name was Dread, yet I didn’t feel any dread in his presence. Instead, I found myself missing his touch when he let my hand go. Then he smiled, and I swooned on the inside.

I’m pretty sure my pussy was imagining all the ways she could fuck these shadows. All at the same damn time. Despite the dangerous energy they each emitted, there was still an air of innocence surrounding them, making them even more irresistible. The fact that I could reach out and touch them, not puffs of smoke or clouds, but a physical body, made my mouth water.

Damn, was I lusting over shadows? I’d always frowned at the girls in class who boasted about having screwed a Fallen and their shadows. I’d always thought, why the hell would you want to fuck a cloud.

Now, I knew why. Shadows weren’t just darkness. It was like Vayn had been cloned four times. They were him, and he was them. And I was attracted to all of them. Damn, I was no different from those girls I’d been disgusted by.

“Eyes on me, not my shadows,” Vayn growled.

Did I detect a hint of jealousy? Interesting.

“As I said,” I continued, trying to focus on the topic at hand and not the males surrounding me. “I didn’t mean to come here. But since I’m here...” I started, only to have him interrupt me.

“My home has wards. Yet, you got past them. I want to know how you did that.”

“I... don’t know. As I said, I fell asleep and ended up here.”

“No one, other than Beastie and I, can teleport into my home.”

“But I did.”

“How?”

Shrugging, I said, “Maybe your wards have weakened over time.”
