“No. We have more important things to worry about, Rhen.”

“Right. You’re a Decider.”

“Not anymore. Not for a long time.”

“During our dream episodes, were you a Decider?”

“I was not.”

“Good.”

“My sisters are Deciders. They are also the Goddesses of the apocalypse.”

“And Jenn, the succubus, who is also the witch that cursed Kaede, is a Goddess also?”

“She’s the Goddess of Death. She likes to skin-walk. She kills people and takes their skin. Then she pretends to be them and causes all kinds of trouble. The real person known as Jenn is long dead.”

“Damn.”

“And now she’s here for Kaede and Sin.”

“And you and me.”

Winter nodded.

“Can we beat them on our own?”

Winter shook her head. “If it were that easy, I would’ve put a team together to take them out.”

“What do we do?”

“Something I hate doing. We…”

The house shook. Rhen grabbed her and pulled her close. “What the hell was that?” he asked.

“They’re trying to break through my wards.”

“No. And yes.”

“Babe, which is it?”

“I’ve reinforced the wards to keep them out. But, if they go up against my wards enough, they’ll be able to breakthrough. If I stay here and keep reinforcing them, we’ll be able to keep them out. But then, I won’t be able to search for Sinclair.”

“You want to search for Sinclair, don’t you?”

“I do. I think if Kaede wanted to hurt her, he would’ve done it here. He wouldn’t have been able to resist the blood lust. But he didn’t hurt her. So, maybe we can scratch that worry off the list.”

“I guess he’s stronger than me, huh?”

“No man is stronger than you,” Winter said, stroking his ego so they could move this along.”

The house shook again. His grip on her tightened. “I can use vamp speed to get us out of here.”

“No need. After you turned Kaede, I placed a tracker spell on Sinclair.”

“Then why are you panicking?”

“I… I don’t know. I’ve got a bad feeling. And when I feel like this, something always goes horribly wrong.”
