“Sorry. My research indicated changing the locus of impact vastly improves results. I got the shot in my arm and then had to wait four hours. We can proceed immediately with it done here.”

“Proceed with what?” I asked, but my bed answered by elevating and tilting.

I could just see Kelvin below me from the new angle if I strained against the strap on my head. The things he put on my body warmed up, then got hot. “Dude, those pads are, like, burning me.”

“They shouldn’t get hot enough to cause damage. Just a bit of discomfort at first while it does the initial scan.”

The things cooled. “Okay, not so bad. Now what?”

“Now we begin.”

“Begin what?”

Kelvin tapped the screen closest to him several times. A loud whirring sound behind me started as soon as he did.

“What’s that?” I asked. The things all over my body became sharp at once, piercing my skin. “Ow! Fuck, man! What the hell?”

As soon as I said it, I felt this… surging? It was hard to describe. Like, wave after wave of pulsing. It got intense. Then more intense. So much so that it became painful.

“This kinda hurts,” I said, more to myself than Kel.

“It’s okay. That’s all part of it. It’s going to feel uncomfortable for a while, then it will get better. It may get worse first, though.”

I couldn’t imagine it getting much worse. But it did. The pain swelled, reaching every inch of my body. Soon it was as if I was being filled to the brim. Like every blood vessel was about to burst. Like I was choking from the inside out.

“FUCK, DUDE, FUCK!! It fucking hurts!”

Kel placed a hand on my thigh. “I know. It’s almost over. Just hold on.”

The piercing pain was back, only it was on fire. Every muscle in my body contracted at once. My bones cracked, and my joints ground to dust.

“Kel…” I panted, unable to catch my breath. “FUCK… I… Kel, this fucking…” I tried to swallow but couldn’t. “I think it’s…”

The pressure became so severe, so all-consuming that I couldn’t breathe. “I… AAGGGGH,” I was just able to get out.

I struggled against my bonds. The leather straps bit into my skin. I thrashed and flexed every muscle in my body to the point of exhaustion. My vision darkened, and I was sure that was it. Kelvin Manchester had killed me in his secret lab.

Then it stopped. Or, no, not stopped. It kept going harder and stronger than it was before, but it no longer felt like my veins were going to burst. Instead, they were full and thriving. I wasn’t on fire. My bones were as sturdy as steel. My muscles vibrated as if I was on the starting line, waiting for the whistle.

What was once pain became pleasure. Each wave felt good in a way I didn’t understand. And it just increased. Like a massage for every nerve ending in my body. Warmth and soothing tingles radiated from the spot where he injected me to my fingertips, toes, and scalp.

“Oh, man,” I moaned. My eyes rolled back. “Fuuuuuuck yeah.”

“What’s happening, Adrian?”

“It’s better. Like a lot better.”

“It… it feels good?” Kel asked.

“Fuck YES it feels good. It feels amazing!”

“Hmm,” Kel said, and tapped his screen some more.

“What does hmm mean?” I asked, straining to see him.

“It means… well… Huh. That’s fascinating.”

“What do you mean? What’s—” A wave of pleasure so powerful hit that all I could do was moan in ecstasy. All worries or fears about how I was apparently surprising Kelvin disappeared.
