‘Congrats, sweetie!’ Joe cheered like I’d just been given a major award. I supposed it was a significant personal achievement.
‘So what’s he like?’ Dana asked. ‘Gentle? Rough? Is he hung like a horse?’
‘Wow, so many questions!’ I giggled. ‘He’s… really manly, like… He has this aura of power.’
‘Ooh, I love it when a man is powerful in the bedroom. Does he do dirty talk too?’
‘Yes.’ I nodded enthusiastically. ‘And yes, he’s very well-endowed. The first time I was worried whether I’d need stitches afterwards!’
Dana and Joe burst into raucous laughter.
‘God, he sounds like the shag of my dreams!’ Dana said. ‘Where did you go? To his place or a hotel?’
‘His place.’ I definitely couldn’t tell them about what we did in the office. Or that I went to his penthouse.
‘It’s good that you got to see where he lived. Sometimes when they only want to hook up in hotels it’s because they’re hiding a wife or kids.’ Joe sighed.
‘Sounds like you’re talking from personal experience?’ I asked.
‘Sadly, yes,’ he confirmed.
‘So sorry.’
‘You live and learn. Are you seeing him again or was it just a one-night thing?’
Good question.
So far, it’d been more than a one-night thing.
I’d spent the entire weekend at Blake’s place.
On Sunday, we’d watched three films back-to-back. After The Proposal, which I loved, we continued the bookish theme by watching the film adaptation of the popular romance novel People We Meet on Vacation then watched Crazy, Stupid, Love which I also adored. By that point, it was early evening and although Blake hadn’t asked me to go, I didn’t want to overstay my welcome, so I’d got up to leave.
But he’d promptly picked me up, laid me on the sofa, got on his knees and gone down on me, before fucking me in the living room. Twice.
We’d dozed together on the sofa and woken up after ten at which point I really did need to go home.
Blake had insisted on dropping me off, which included him coming up to my room.
When he’d seen it, he’d wrinkled his nose and asked if it was safe to stay ‘in a place like this’. I’d assured him it was, although I wasn’t sure that was true.
But even with the pay increase I’d got now that my job involved working on the app, I couldn’t afford to splurge. Renting in London was expensive. Plus, with all the extra hours I’d been doing, I barely used my room. And what if something went wrong with Blake?
I’d like to think that he wouldn’t sack me. Especially given how kind and caring he’d been. But he’d made it very clear from the start that he wouldn’t let anyone get in the way of Sated’s success. So I needed to save as much money as possible. Just in case.
When he’d finally left my room, he’d said he was flying to Sated’s Madrid office for a few days and we’d ‘speak soon’.
We’d emailed a few times this week about the app, but everything had been strictly professional, so as far as I knew, that was that.
My stomach tensed.
Although I knew I shouldn’t, I missed him.
‘I’m not sure if we’ll see each other again.’ I sighed.
‘Why not?’ Dana asked.
‘He’s…’ I thought about how best to say it. ‘With his job, it’s difficult.’
