We should go to bed now.

I wish!

To sleep, Gabe.

I’m not sure I can. I’ve got a certain blonde-haired, blue-eyed beauty on my mind.

He’d referred to her as beautiful a few times, but she still wasn’t used to hearing it. She must have taken too long to respond because another text popped up.

You’re right. We should try to get some sleep. See you tomorrow.

See you then.

She turned off her phone, set it on the nightstand, and wriggled further under the covers.

The following morning, she realized she’d slept in his sweatshirt all night long.

Chapter 22

Gabe had forgotten about the meeting with Bryan, and now he regretted asking Morgan to wear a dress. He should have waited for another day, but he’d been so caught up in thoughts of her that the meeting had slipped his mind.

He watched her walk toward his car, the pretty floral dress swishing around her legs and her curly blonde hair bouncing on her shoulders. The dress wasn’t overtly sexy, but it did nothing to hide her luscious curves, curves that he was now intimately familiar with.

As she slid into the passenger seat, her dress rode up, showing a bit more of her tanned legs. Dammit. Now Bryan was going to be treated to this view too!

“Good morning,” she said cheerfully and flashed him a smile.

“Morning.”

“Uh-oh. You sound grumpy. Did you have your coffee yet?”

“No, but that’s not it.”

“What’s wrong, then?”

“Nothing.” He stared straight ahead, pretending to be focused on the road, only there wasn’t much traffic since they were still in his sister’s neighborhood.

She sighed. “Really? We’re back to this again.”

“This what?”

“You being crabby in the morning and pretending like nothing’s wrong when, obviously, something is.”

He glanced over at her. “I remembered our meeting with Bryan this morning.”

“And?”

“And you’re wearing a dress.”

“You asked me to!”

“I know, but at the time, I forgot about the meeting.”

“It doesn’t matter. I didn’t wear the dress for him.”

He glanced at her again, and her expression took his breath away. He would have liked nothing better than to turn the car around and take her back to his house, or even Maria’s, lock the door, and have her all to himself.

“You look great,” he said, attempting to smooth things over.
