He chuckles with a nod. “I have done a lot, but none of it compares to being with you, sweet girl.”
Cam has a family dinner he must be at tonight, so Jared and I are going out on our own. We enjoy doing things as a threesome, but it’s also important to do things as individual couples.
Jared is taking me to a new restaurant. It’s a dressier place, so I pull out my black silk dress from the back of my closet. I might have a unique and grungy style, but I still like dressing up, and this dress is stunning.
It’s tight and comes to my knee with a halter-style top that shows my cleavage perfectly. I pair it with strappy heels. My hair is in waves down my back, and I’ve made up my face with light smoky eyes and neutral, glossy lips.
“Whoa, Indy! You look beautiful,” Micky says with wide eyes, making me chuckle.
“I clean up nice, huh?” He nods and takes a picture. “What was that for?”
“Records. I know you hate it, but it’s not every day we get this.” He gestures to me.
I laugh. “Thanks, I think.”
He chuckles and lets Jared in when he knocks. Jared looks up, and his eyes go wide too.
“You look stunning.”
“So do you.” I smile and wave my hand, up and down, toward his body. He rarely dresses up. He does sometimes for work, but it’s not often. He’s fucking hot. He smirks and grabs my hand as I ogle him.
“Let’s go.”
“We’ll be back later, Mik,” I call. He nods and waves.
We are taken to our seats, and we order our drinks and food. I excuse myself to the restroom when I see him. Those broad shoulders. That light hair I’ve come to love so much, and he is definitely not with his family. The blond woman sitting in front of him is pretty, the type of woman you would expect him to be with. Not like me, damaged and dirty. Broken.
He looks stiff from behind, but she’s grabbing all over his arm from across the table. I have the option of turning around and doing this later. Or I can do this right now, and I’m suddenly in the mood to be a menace and ruin everyone’s night, not just mine.
“All the way, huh?” I say from behind him, repeating the words he said to us at the bridge. That was months ago, but his shoulders tense. Good. He remembers.
“It’s not what it looks like, Indy.”
“It never is, is it? Where’s the family, Cameron?”
“They set me up.”
I hum. It’s soft and disapproving. His shoulders sag a little when he hears it.
“Who is this, Cam?” the woman at his table asks. Her voice is meager and weak. “I’m your girlfriend. I should at least meet your friends.” Cam’s head jerks at her words as if he’s surprised by them.
The laugh that leaves my throat is cruel and nasty. Exactly how I feel. And my voice isn’t weak.
“His cock was down my throat not five hours ago. I think we’re well past friends.”
Her eyes widen, and her perfect lips part as she gasps.
“I told you, Angela, we’re not together. We’ve never been together,” Cam mutters but doesn’t deny what I just said.
“So, about that freedom. How’s that going?”
“What the fuck is this?” Jared’s harsh voice comes from behind me. The malice in it has even me fighting the shivers on my spine.
“Looks like he’s on a date.” I turn to Jared, and he’s pissed. It’s all over his face. But it’s his eyes that tell on him. He’s hurt. His jaw ticks several times.
“This is not a date,” Cam snaps, turning to face us. “This was a setup.”
All I can do is shake my head at them. I don’t have the energy I thought I did for this. I let my guard down with him when I knew not to. I knew he was going to do this. I fucking knew it and let it happen anyway. This is my fault.
