Renovating The Heart Of A Beast
Page 26
“I was out of character for leaving with a random man. I actually loved every moment we spent together. The way he handled my body and our chemistry felt like we were on some love at first sight shit. It’s so weird I can’t even explain it Praylah. We fucked and went at it, he explored me, and I passed out. I woke up to him getting dressed and rushing out saying he needed to see about his fucking wife! I knew it was a one-night stand but I thought we would be good friends or something. I was trying to convince myself of some things and get Devin out of my system totally but I went about that shit the wrong way.”
“It happens to the best of us. I mean look at me Era. I’m living in a place that our boss provided, catching feelings for a man I don’t even know that well. The universe works in a weird way but what we can do is protect our hearts and get our shit together.” We continued to talk, and I let her know that after I met with Matthew’s mom, I was going to stop by the grocery store get us dinner and bring some wine so we could have a girls’ night.
The car Matthew had given me was in my name, so I would be taking that. I planned on leaving him the keys to his apartment and going on my way. I couldn’t jump into something serious with him when I still had to face Jarei. I didn’t want drama and man problems swirling around me and Heaven.
Hearing the doorbell ring, I let Era know that I’ll be to her house in a couple of hours. I hung up and stood nervously to get the door. Matthew mom stood at the door at my same height with a beautiful woman that looked at me with an attitude.
“Hello sugar, my name is Kayori and this is a friend of Matthew’s, her name is Lakendra.” The woman named Lakendra rolled her eyes and looked at me like she didn’t want to be here. Kayori calling me sugar reminded me of how Matthew called me sugar mommy.
“I’m Bo’s ex-girlfriend.” She offered a smirk and I just nodded my head. I was used to dealing with attitudes because Jarei’s baby momma Nyla always had one with me even when I was helping her out with her and Jarei’s kid. I never argued with Nyla or came at her with resentment like most women would do. In my head it was Jarei’s decision to cheat on me so I didn’t blame Nyla much.
I offered a welcoming smile and stepped to the side to let them in. Kayori surprised me, she didn’t just walk by me like Lakendra did. She gave me a nice warm tight hug. I could see small resemblance with her and Matthew. Kayori was beautiful, the scars on her face complimented her and she wore them with confidence.
They both sat down as I went to the kitchen to bring them bottles of water.
“I was surprised that Matthew called and asked for me to come and talk with you. He always keeps his personal life away from me and his father. What I’m here for is to give you good insight on who my son is. With Matthew’s father, I had to learn all of him including both of his personalities. I don’t want to waste much time because I have to make sure my stubborn husband makes his four o’ clock doctor appointment. Being with men like my husband and Matthew requires a lot of patience.” She cleared her throat and looked off for a second before she continued.
“Matthew was diagnosed with schizophrenia paranoia as a kid. I believe he was around ten when we got the diagnosis. It’s supposed to be a mild case but when he hit fifteen, they added obsessive-compulsive disorder and the list started growing. He has repetitive behaviors and compulsions that cannot be controlled by him especially if he doesn’t take his medications on a regular basis. Matthew has his different phases, sometimes he won’t sleep, eat properly or think rationally but he’s very smart and loving to those he takes a liking to. He can be very over the top and sometimes he talks to himself a voice that’s in his head that he gets frustrated over saying that it makes him do things he doesn’t want to.” Her eyes got watery as she looked me in the eyes.
“One of Matthews biggest mistakes and triggers was Lakendra.” She eyed Lakendra and now Lakendra was looking remorseful. “It’s a big reason why he refuses to totally move on from her. You see he regrets what he did to her and because of that he feels like he owes her but he doesn’t. Her sticking around waiting for him to offer her another chance should show him that Lakendra has forgiven him. She just wants to keep benefiting from-” Lakendra jumped up, I admired her slim thick curvy frame. She was a beautiful woman; my insecurities were soaring high. It made me wonder what did Matthew see in me when he had this in fit beautiful model of a woman waiting for him.
“I love Matthew! You think she can take care of your son the way that I’m willing to? Who the fuck is this fat bitch anyway! Bo does owe me! He owes us another try. This girl…” she spat in disgust as she pointed towards me. “Is just something to do until he’s ready to come back around for me.” I swallowed down hard, I felt slighted and jealous all in one as she chuckled nastily and looked down at me like I was truly a joke and I felt like one.
“Lakendra, sit the fuck down and speak at the same level that I am with you. I might be nice but baby I don’t have it all when I feel disrespected. You and I both know how the fuck I get down. I’m trying to be nice but you’re about to take me to a place called fuck you up.” Kayori eyes turned into tiny slits as Lakendra quickly took a seat, eyes still on me.
“I fucked up, but no woman should have endured what I did. I regret not telling Matthew sooner that it wasn’t all his fault that night but because of his anger I didn’t want to admit everything.” Tears started falling from her eyes and even though she was disrespectful towards me. I felt bad for her. She eyed me with fiery emotion and anger as her lips quivered.
“Men like Debo think they have it all, for the most part they do except love. He’s handsome, rich and got good dick. A young woman’s dream. What women like me didn’t know at a young age is what comes along with messing with a street nigga like Bo. They get to have bitches all kinds of bitches. Tall, short, fat, skinny, black or light skin. Hell, if he wanted to he could have a different bitch every single day of the year. It’s all up to them and what they want. For the most part I dealt with Bo because like now I’m still in love with him. It’s nothing like having a street nigga that streets you like a fuckin Princess, he gave me whatever I wanted and made sure I was safe. He never let a soul disrespect me and if a nigga looked my way to long, he’d knock them where the hell they stood. I loved that shit, it’s like an addiction a rush and thrill. As time went by, Bo started acting differently. He’d fuck up from time to time and admit to me by telling the truth. Never would he fuck a bitch but if he was away and out of town, I agreed that it was fine for him to get head from a random bitch here and there if I wasn’t there to fulfill his needs. As long as none of them bitches came around bragging about it. There was a bitch named Tashay from my hood going around with a baby bump saying the baby belonged to Bo. That shit fucked me up bad, I’m talking the kind of pain that puts you into so much shock, grief and hurt.” She grabbed her chest like someone had punched her in it.
“Of course, I confronted Bo about it and he denied it. Looked me right in the eyes and denied it. I should’ve believed it but my insecurities and the way I felt at the time didn’t allow me to believe. I acted as if I did and the whole time, I was plotting to hurt him like he hurt me.” She eyed Kayori cautiously as Kayori seemed to be upset and agitated with the whole story telling from Lakendra.
“I end up fucking one of his slaughter gang boys and I got pregnant by him. I continued to mess with him since he made me feel good, he was on call when ever I missed Bo a little too much. Months went by and I didn’t stop what I was doing until I got to comfortable and lazy with it. Bo was excited about going out of town with Ream and Solo so I got bold and let Doughboy come to Bo and I house. I guess Bo had Ream tell his pilot to hold off so he could double back to the house for his favorite chain that I overlooked on the dresser. I had been so excited to lay up with Doughboy that if I saw Bo’s chain on the dresser then I would have instantly known that Bo was coming back. I didn’t realize that because every time I laid up with Doughboy, I felt myself getting redemption and even with Bo for all the hoes he had gotten head from, I felt like it was fair and I made myself believe that he had gotten another bitch pregnant.”
“How you getting even when you told my son that you were okay with getting head from other hoes! On top of that he made the same girl that claimed she was pregnant tell you that she had lied and the baby wasn’t his. You just wanted to cheat! I’m not gonna sit here and let you tell this story and try to justify your foul ass actions!” Kayori cut Lakendra off but I wanted to hear the rest of her story.
“I’m sorry, I was wrong but Bo was still wrong for what he did.” She sobbed out and wiped at the tears that couldn’t seem to stop flowing. “He had to know that I didn’t want him with any other hoes not even head! If he loved me enough, he would have never even took me up on my offer!”
“Finish the got damn story Lakendra because I was under the impression that the baby was Matthew’s this whole time.” Lakendra now looked nervous but she continued to tell the story.
“Bo walked in on me and Doughboy, we were in the living room making out like teenagers. My gown was up and Doughboy was playing with my pussy. So caught up in foreplay I didn’t even hear Bo enter the door even if I did it would look to weird with Doughboy being there. The only thing that got my attention was Bo emptying the clip in Doughboy’s head. Blood… blood and brain matter all over me.” Her hands shook as she held herself. “I never seen Bo so angry, it was the first night I heard and saw him conflicted, pacing back and forth before he acknowledged me. He was talking to himself and hitting his head with his gun until he busted his head. He kept yelling out that he couldn’t kill me because he loved me too much and how he fucked around too. Then he turned to face me, it was as if I was looking into a stranger’s eyes. His eyes were wild and crazed. He charged me like a football player and was beating my face in until I yelled out that he was going to kill our baby. It’s like he snapped back into reality and the Bo I knew came back to the forefront. He left the house and had his boys clean up the mess that he made. I didn’t see Bo for three weeks; he only came to me after I texted him saying how I was in the hospital suffering from a miscarriage at almost five months pregnant. Bo always talked about having kids so he was crushed thinking that our baby had died because of him putting hands on me.” She broke down and cried into the palms of her hands.
“You mean to tell me I killed another nigga baby? That baby was never even mine Lakendra.” Matthew stepped into the room, his voice super raspy and deep like he had just woken up. Hurling his phone at the wall and pulling his gun from his waist, he cracked his neck from side to side and stared hard at Lakendra. He mumbled some shit under his breath and started pacing in front of us. Kayori his mother stood and went to her son and he roared loud causing me to jump.
“MOVE!” Kayori stayed calm and grabbed her son by the face.
“I won’t move! I know that voice is trying to control you baby but you can’t let it. You needed to hear it MATTHEW! You didn’t kill a baby she miscarried, and the baby wasn’t yours. You have to stop holding on to Lakendra out of guilt and let her move on. Things happen for a reason and that’s my reasoning for bringing Lakendra here today. Take deep breaths baby like Ms. Scott told you the other week. Breathe baby, breathe.” He listened to his mom then his eyes landed on me.
“I guess I’m too crazy to deal with now? I guess you over there judging me. Well, I don’t give a fuck. Get your shit and go, all of you bitches is the same! Except you momma, you probably the last real one left, daddy lucky to have you.” He bent down and placed his forehead onto his mom forehead.
“Lakendra and Praylah get the fuck out before I lay one of y’all down in front of my momma. I don’t want to disrespect my momma.”
“Relax sugar.” She rubbed his shoulders like she was trying to tame a beast. I didn’t waste any time, I got up and grabbed my keys and purse then left.
I looked at Matthew one last time and saw resentment and hurt in his eyes. It looked like he wanted to stop me from leaving and I wanted to stop myself from leaving. I left anyway feeling sad for him and me, Matthew had made a mistake. He beat himself up over it and today he found out somethings that he didn’t know. I said a silent prayer as I got into my car. I prayed for his sanity and the mental space he was currently in. I would be here for him but as far as a serious relationship I couldn’t give him that. We both had problems when it came to our mental. That along could be explosive and toxic all in one.
