Stone studied them for a moment before turning to Jack. “They do that often?”
“Lo does,” York commented.
Jack smirked. “You guys haven’t known her long, but the longer you do…”
“The weirder she gets,” Grim finished for his boyfriend.
“I was going to say the more comfortable she’ll be around them.” Jack shrugged noncommittally. “But that works too.”
“There,” Sloane whispered as Hyde pointed a finger at an unmarked door. “He went in there.”
Hyde shook her head. “That’s a private nightclub. Members only. We can’t get in, and York couldn’t go in covered in blood.”
“Scout out the buildings around us and then go back to the palace, Hyde. Take Grim and Vaughn with you.” Barbie smiled reassuringly to Hyde as Grim linked his arm in hers.
“Jack, take Palmer and York. Find the back entrance and watch it. Dolyn, keep Novak and Briggs with you. You three watch the front.”
“Call out if you need backup,” Jack warned as he led Palmer and York down the street to seek out the back door of the nightclub.
Barbie held her hand out to Stone, lacing her finger through his when he took it.
“We’re going in.”

Friday Early Morning
The night had taken an abrupt left turn when we’d spotted Satan. He’d always had an unnerving way of ruining things. From what I’d heard. I’d not actually had the torture of meeting him.
The club we’d followed him to was filled with writhing bodies and shitty electronica music, and I longed for my vampire to take over. He was a highly sought after DJ on Earth, and I knew that the demons would love the darker version of his music.
I walked to the bar alone, knowing Stone was a few paces behind me, and ordered a shot of tequila and a mixed drink.
It wasn’t as potent as Earthly tequila, but it was an okay representation. The flavor was there; the hit was all wrong. A shot of demonic tequila didn’t hit you like a sucker punch to the chest, it was more like a warm hug, and I hated it.
Still in my disguise with my flowing raven hair, masking my power as much as possible, I turned my back to the bar and surveyed my surroundings.
The club we were in was two storeys, a packed mezzanine floating over the back side of the structure. A dance floor showcased, front and center, as the highlight of the establishment.
The setup left much to be desired, but we weren’t paying an outrageous door fee for me to critique the interior.
As I stood leaning against the bar, drinking my disgusting cocktail, a copper-colored demon sidled up beside me.
I closed my eyes for a moment, hoping that he would disappear, but I had no such luck.
He grinned at me, his eyes trailing down my body in a path that left me feeling slimy. “Hey baby, you here alone?”
“You have got to be fucking kidding me,” I murmured to myself before speaking up to say, “No, I’m not.”
He glanced around me, making a real show of seeking out my companion for the night. “I don’t see anyone with you.”
“Stone isn’t with me for two minutes.” I groaned, throwing my head back. “Look. I’m just here for some fun. I’m not really interested—”
He flashed what I thought was meant to be a sexy smirk, but it came off as malevolent. “I could make you interested…”
“I highly doubt that,” I interjected.
