I groan in annoyance when I spot Abigail behind me, dazzling smile in place on her gloss coated lips. When she sees my expression, she pulls them into a fake pout.

“Don’t look so surprised, you told me to come.”

“I certainly didn’t.” I grunt.

I’d never willingly see this girl. Not today especially. My morning was exhausting, why does the afternoon have to be just as draining?

“You said—and I quote: ask me about that when I’m at work, not in my free time.” Her eyes scan my body head to toe. “And I’m assuming you are working right now. Unless of course, you were wearing your uniform for a different reason. In that case, I’m sorry for ruining your fun.”

I’m not sure whether I should be pissed off about her indicating I fuck people when I’m in uniform, or at her apology that she definitely didn’t mean. I just shake my head and cross my arms before my body.

“What do you want, Abigail?”

This woman really is the devil incarnate.

When she came up to me yesterday in the gym, I was ready to run for it. If it weren’t for Ivory, I would’ve disappeared somewhere just to avoid this plague of a human being.

Abigail’s smile returns with full power. She somehow manages to bounce on the front of her feet despite the glittering 8 inch heels she is wearing, and looks at me through her fake, long lashes.

“I wanted to let you know that I’m about ready to move. Unless of course, you couldn’t find a place for me to move to… in that case I guess this is our goodbye.”

Her tone is innocent as fuck but only an idiot would think, she’s sincere. If you look close enough, you can see the venom behind her eyes.

“There’s a two bedroom apartment ready for you.”

I’ve never been more grateful that Ezekiel chased after his high school sweetheart, because Rosemary is the one supplying the apartment.

“There is?”

The surprise on Abigail’s face is palpable and I can’t help the smug smile spreading my own lips.

“Yes.”

Didn’t expect that, huh?

It takes her a moment to snap back into her old self, just enough time for me to push past her and make my way into the police station.

With Abigail hot on my heels, I walk over to my desk and take a seat.

Before she can ask another question, I already have a small piece of paper in hand. Rosemary scribbled her name and phone number on it for me to give to Abigail. They will sort out rent and all that extra stuff.

Keeping the note secured under my hand, I wait for Abigail to take a seat.

“What do you know about a breeder on skid row?”

Rosemary insisted on letting Abigail get to safety and settle into her new home before we pestered her with questions. But this is not technically concerning the ring, so I’ll give it a shot and ask.

Abigail’s tongue travels over her cupids bow, her blue eyes falling to my hand that holds Rosemary’s note.

“I don’t know anything about a breeder,” she says with a half shrug.

Worth a shot.

I slide the note over the table towards Abigail, when she continues:

“They don’t technically breed themselves.”

“What do you mean?”
