I frowned. “What do you mean?”

She nodded her head at Declan, who was talking to Allen. “You know I help with social media, right? We’re gonna post about the wedding and advertise this space for parties and events. It will bring more money in.”

I stroked my beard. It was an idea Declan had been trying to get me to focus on, but I was too busy trying to up our production output.

Avery laced her hand through mine and got up out of her seat. Gemma instructed us to make a couple of poses, one of us kissing, one with our hands on Avery’s baby bump, and then a normal one of us standing next to each other.

“Smile, boss man!” Gemma teased behind her phone.

Avery smoothed down my beard. “Smile for me, please, baby?” she cooed.

Avery could make me do anything when she asked in that sweet voice. She knew it, too. I smiled for the camera, and soon the smile wasn’t fake because that was Avery's effect on me. She was my light in the dark, even if she didn’t know it yet.

“Okay, perfect,” Gemma said to us, and then she walked over to show my brother, who nodded his head.

Avery tilted my head down and met me in a quick kiss. “Thank you.”

“For what?”

“Appeasing my sister. Now let’s get out of here so we can do absolutely nothing together for an entire week.”

“Merry Christmas, baby.”

She smiled and kissed me again. “Just so you know, I intend on watching the cheesiest Christmas movies up at the cabin.”

“Can’t wait,” I said, and I wasn’t being sarcastic.

I was amped to be cuddled up with my pregnant wife and away from our nosy siblings. Honestly? The idea of doing absolutely nothing and just being with her had an enormous appeal. Even if she made me watch cringe-worthy cheesy Christmas movies. If I got to spend my Christmas honeymoon with my beautiful wife, I’d do anything she wanted.

Chapter Nineteen

AVERY

“Can I get out of the car now? I really have to pee,” I called to Nolan from the car. My husband grumbled from the porch with a shovel in hand.

Of course, it snowed on the drive up to the cabin, and it took us longer than expected to get here. Part of that was because I had to pee every twenty minutes. We left Drakesville early enough that we still had some daylight. When we finally pulled up into the drive, Nolan insisted on shoveling it and the porch, so I didn’t fall. Falling while pregnant was a tremendous risk, so I wasn’t mad at him for being so protective. I just had to pee.

I peered up at the two-story log cabin where I had spent my summers, and nostalgia hit me. I hadn’t been up here in a while. I don’t think I’d ever been up here during the winter, but it looked beautiful. The lake was iced over, and there was snow on the ground, giving it that winter wonderland feeling. It was a picturesque Christmas honeymoon, and it was absolute perfection.

The best part was watching my husband being all Mountain Man while shoveling snow before letting me get out of the car. I stared down at the shiny rings on my finger. I couldn’t believe we had gotten married.

After what seemed like forever, he rested the shovel against the cabin wall and walked down the steps toward the car. He opened the passenger door and helped me get out. I yelped when he lifted me in his arms, bridal style, and carried me inside.

“Nolan!” I shrieked.

“What? Aren’t you supposed to do that when you get married?” he asked with a laugh as he gingerly set me down on the couch.

Nolan looked around at the stone fireplace and the granite countertops in the kitchen. Dad put a lot of work into the cabin over the years. It had been my grandparents before they passed it on to Dad. Gem and I spent many summers up here on the lake. Maybe we could vacation here when the baby was older. There were three rooms upstairs, so there was enough room for us, my dad, and even Gemma. I really liked the idea of doing family vacations here again.

“Wow, this is much nicer than I expected. I was expecting it to be a one-room log cabin.”

“Nope, there are three bedrooms upstairs. Dad fixed it up and did a bunch of upgrades over the years. Do you want help bringing in all the stuff?” I asked.

He shook his head. “Nope. You sit your beautiful ass down and let me do everything.”

“Nolan!”

He gave me a stern look. “I don’t want you to fall and hurt the baby. Let me, okay?”
