“You’re hurting right now, and I know I can take it all away and make you forget her, or at least make you believe you’re with her. It’s all part of the remedy. Let me show you how much I want to help you,” Star said. “I promise you, it feels so good, and I use this when I’m with the others so I can think about you.”

Every sane part of his body was screaming at him not to take that fucking drug. However, the promise of being able to be with Morwenna and everything else disappearing and fading away, felt too good to be true. He didn’t know how it was possible. He needed to say no.

In the back of his mind, he couldn’t help but think about Morwenna, her smiling face, just the pure beauty of her. She was stunning, and it had been so long since he’d been able to touch her, embrace her, and imagine his life with her. He fucked up.

This is bad.

This is good.

You don’t want to do this.

You want to do this so badly.

Think of Morwenna.

She’s never going to want you back.

She wants a divorce.

He grabbed her back and licked his finger, dipping it into the powder. One time wouldn’t hurt, and he desperately wanted to be with Morwenna again.

Chapter Fifteen

“Where are you going?” Willow asked, coming outside, and Morwenna noticed she carried a shotgun.

“What are you doing?”

“I want to know where you’re going?”

Morwenna frowned. “Seriously, Mom, you look like you want to shoot me.”

“Of course not.” Her mother tilted the shotgun and placed it against the door. “I’m just curious where you’re going.”

She hadn’t told her parents she was looking out of town for a place to stay. She’d made the decision she was going to move on, and she knew they were not going to be happy about it, but this was her decision.

“I’ve, uh, I’ve got an appointment. It’s about an hour’s drive from here. Would you like to come with me?” Morwenna asked.

Her parents had been really protective the last couple of days. They rarely left the house. Usually, it was her dad who left, bringing back food. She’d also noticed they talked in hushed tones.

“An hour’s drive from here?” Willow asked.

Morwenna held onto her car keys. “I’m looking for a place to move so I can get out of Dwellers Point. I think it’s time I got a clean break, because between Bolt and Venom, I don’t want to live here anymore.”

“An hour’s drive away.”

“Yes, so I can still drive to come and see you, and it’s not too far. Please,” she said.

Her mother didn’t look happy. Her father had gone out, and Morwenna didn’t want to be late.

“Let me grab my bag.”

“You’ve got to hurry, otherwise we’re going to be late, and I don’t want to be.”

Her mother took nearly five minutes to grab a bag. “I’ve texted your father to let him know we’re leaving. He’s already responded and wished you good luck, honey.”

“Dad’s happy with me making this decision?”

“No, he’s not happy, but there’s not a lot he can do, is there? You’ve made your decision, and you want to go and check out this property.” Willow rounded the vehicle and climbed inside.
