“Did he say why he was asking about me?”

“Because he thinks you’re hot?” Meredith said looking at me like I was stupid.

“Oh.”

I drove in silence. Did Ty really think I was hot or was Danny just exaggerating? I liked to think I was hot, but I felt I was more of a seven on a ten point scale. I had plain brown hair, big blue eyes, and a pretty great smile. I was definitely not average, but not drop-dead gorgeous either. I wouldn’t describe myself as hot though… more…

I immediately told the inner monologue running through my head to shut up. If he thought I was hot, then hot I was.

After I dropped Meredith off, I quickly made a run to the store to grab a few things Dana needed. The twins were back to their normal selves, but Dana was a mess. I didn’t cook so I went to the Chinese restaurant and bought a huge container of won ton soup for Dana and then stopped at a pizza place and bought two pizzas for the kids.

I was on my way back to the car with two pizzas in my hand when a car honked its horn close to me and I leapt a little into the air, startled.

“Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you,” called out the driver. I recognized the voice immediately. It was Ty.

“Craving pizza tonight or something?” he asked as he parked his car next to mine and got out.

“For Meredith and the twins.”

“You do a lot for her.”

“Well, she is my niece.”

“Family oriented, that’s a nice quality to have.”

“Well, if you don’t have family then what’s left?”

He positioned his back against his car and crossed his arms over his wide chest. Now why in the world did he do that? His arms muscles bulged against the fabric of his thin shirt. He was wearing a white shirt with gray cargo shorts. He looked really really good.

I licked my lips and his eyes followed the movement. For a moment, we were both guilty of exchanging a heated glance.

“So, I would like to go back to where we left off the other day. You know when you were asking me to ask you out?”

A smirk formed on my face. “You wanted to ask me out. I never prompted you to.”

“True. So how’s Friday?”

I opened my mouth to say sure when I realized that not only did I not really know this guy, but I was also bound by my contract to not date him. This was hard for me. I didn’t want to break a rule, but how would they find out? Right?

I opened my mouth to say yes and then closed it again. Ty was hot. And a jokester and the type of guy who didn’t seem to do the whole long-term thing. I knew how our story would end, with me feeling inadequate and him feeling like a stud because he so easily got me.

I was a grown up now. Or at least a more mature version of myself. It was time to try something different.

“Ty, I would love to, but already have plans. Tell Danny I said hello,” And with that I walked away. He was persistent though.

“How’s Saturday then?”

I turned back towards him, “I already told you. I have plans.”

“For the whole weekend?”

I hesitated and he knew I was trying to make up a lie. “Come on,” he said with a sexy smile. “You know you want to go out with me. Say yes.”

“No.”

“You scared or something?”

“Of you? Ha.”
