"Oh, God… Roman, please."

"I'm right here." He pulled back just far enough to speak, his lips glistening. "Use my mouth. Take what you need."

So I did. There's no other way to say it. I rolled my hips and ground down against the sweet, relentless heat of his mouth while his fingers moved in time.

I could hear myself gasping his name like it was the only word I still remembered how to say, and every time I got close he said something else into my skin — doing so good, there she is, let go for me — like he needed me to hear it as badly as I needed to feel it.

When I finally broke, I broke everywhere at once. My spine bowed. My vision went white at the edges. My legs, already shaking, simply stopped holding me up. The cry that filled the apartment was raw and ragged and didn't sound like mine.

Roman caught me before I hit the floor, both arms wrapping around me and pulling me straight into his chest like he'd been waiting all night for exactly that moment.

"I've got you," he murmured against my temple.

For once in my life, I let somebody mean it.

He carried me to my bed like I weighed nothing at all, then laid me down and stood over me for a moment before stripping out of his own clothes—his armor, piece by piece, tossed aside on the floor of the studio apartment above the shop he'd once threatened to fine me out of.

This man, in a five-thousand-dollar suit one minute and standing barefoot on my worn floor the next, looking at me like he still wasn't entirely sure he'd earned the right to be here.

He climbed onto the bed and settled between my legs. His fingers laced through mine, and his other hand gripped my thighs, tilting my hips up to meet him.

And then he pushed inside.

Just the tip first, letting me adjust.

"Shit, Summer…" He groaned in my ear.

I wrapped my legs around his waist and pulled him deeper, and he slid all the way home with a groan I felt rumble through my own chest.

He moved slowly at first, every thrust deliberate and deep. His eyes never left mine. His hand never let go. He narrated all of it: my body, his desire, the exact shade of my eyes, the sound of my breathing, the way I opened for him like I'd been waiting my whole life to be seen.

"The most powerful woman I know," he whispered against my mouth. "And you're letting me have this. Letting me have you… I’ll never stop being grateful, baby."

Then he rolled us, and suddenly I was above him, his hands on my hips, his feet planted. For a moment I didn't move. I honestly wasn't sure how.

"Take what you need." he said.

I started slowly, my body learning his, finding a rhythm. Then he drove up to meet me, and the rhythm turned into something wilder. My hips snapped down. My thighs burned. My nails raked down his chest, not to hurt him, just to anchor myself to something.

He loved it.

I could see it in the way his jaw went slack, in the way his pupils blew wide, in the way his hands tightened on my waist.

"That's it, Sunshine. Give it to me. Show me how powerful you are."

"I'm close," I gasped. "Fuck, Roman, I'm close."

"I know, baby. I know. I can feel you. I can feel everything." He thrust up again, and the angle hit something in me that sent stars exploding behind my eyes. "Let it go for me.”

I shattered.

His name tore out of me, loud and broken and free, and my body clamped around him, pulsing and shaking, completely beyond my control. He held me through it, holding my gaze, holding my hips, holding my hand.

Then he fell apart beneath me, hips stuttering, head thrown back, his own release breaking out of him in a low, devastating groan.

The sun was barely up when I woke.

For a few seconds, I had no idea where I was. Then I felt the warm weight of Roman beneath me, his chest rising and falling beneath my cheek, one massive arm wrapped securely around my waist.
