“Evening, boss. Are you good?” He still had sleep in his eyes, which meant Killah woke his ass up when he got here.

“Easy pickings. Who else is here with you?”

“Terse. He’s up top.”

I nodded, then continued to where I heard talking. When I turned the corner, my eyes landed on Killah and Kal.

“Took you long enough.”

I waved Killah off and focused the fat motherfucker hanging from the ceiling on a gambrel. He was low enough to stand on his feet, but knowing Kal, he wouldn’t be doing that for long.

“Why is he sleeping? Like this is nap time or something?” I questioned, standing back.

“What? You want him up?” Kal asked, walking over to the table a few feet away. On it was a blue tablecloth below several items.

“Wide awake,” Killah answered.

“My pleasure.” Kal removed a taser from the table then walked over and pressed it against Winston’s neck.

A few taps on the button later, Mayor Winston was jolted awake. His eyes jumped around the room as beads of sweat formed on his forehead.

“Damn, thought you wouldn’t have to see us again, big homie. And this time I brought the cleaning supplies. Everything name brand for your transition.” Kal pointed to the disinfectant on the tarp under where he stood.

I held the laugh trying to escape my lips because Kal was a fool.

“I didn’t mean to.”

“I’on really wanna hear that. The time for you to shoot it straight and save your own life is done. Now this is about that little blue house on Hollis and River. Save them; because you can no longer save yourself.”

“I’ll tell you whatever. The North Par—” he started.

“Yo, you must not've seen the news. You boutta lie on them and all their asses are dead. The last member got mowed down this morning. Give it to me straight, big homie,” Kal cut in, interrupting whatever he was about to say.

At this point, I didn’t even want that. There was only one thing I wanted and that was a location on Curr. “Where is Charles Curr?”

“I don—”

“Kal, give him an incentive. I don’t have all night and I promised my wife I’d be quick.”

“Hmph, okay.” Kal grabbed a handheld torch from the table and started toward Winston. Seconds later, Winston screamed out in agony.

I stuffed my hands into my pockets and watched Winston attempt to catch his breath.

“Aight, so I’ma ask again, and depending on what you say, we go on the river tonight.” I opened my mouth to ask but Winston was already speaking.

“We were supposed to meet at his home in Westvale. That’s where he’s been laying low.” Winston spoke hurriedly.

I nodded. “See, that was easy. You probably should’ve done this in the first place. Now what’s the address, and at any given moment, how many people are there?”

Winston cried. “It’s usually just him and whoever he’s partying with that night. Guards are sent home because he wants privacy. The address is nineteen eleven West Stoneridge Place.”

“That’s dumb.” Kal put the torch down and picked up the duct tape.

“Whose car are we taking?”

“Doesn’t matter.” I turned on my feet to walk out of the warehouse. I heard the gunshot behind me, then what sounded like a big flop.

After about fifteen minutes, Killah and Kal emerged from the warehouse. Killah hit the locks on his truck and I hopped in the back seat.
