In minutes, the overwhelming feeling of pleasure swamped him. Come shot up his cock and landed on his bare belly, and he imagined Zita’s pleased face in his mind as he exploded.
“Fuck,” he muttered, feeling as if he’d been turned inside out. If he felt this much pleasure at just the thought of her, the real thing might actually kill him. As much as he wanted to take Zita to bed, to feel her pussy caressing his dick, he wasn’t so conceited to be confident it would happen. And he’d never pressure her for something she wasn’t ready to give.
But man, did he want that. Her. He could still remember how she felt in his arms when he’d woken up in his chair and realized she was fast asleep on top of him. It felt so right. Her body weight against him, her legs over his thighs, trusting him not to take advantage of the situation.
And he wanted that again. Her trust, her looking up at him as he slowly entered her for the first time, lust in her eyes, her limbs pulling him closer and her head thrown back. Her auburn hair strewn across his pillow is the sort of image that would forever be imprinted in his mind.
Shit. His cock twitched once more. He felt as if he was in his early twenties again. Getting a hard-on at the smallest provocation. But this was different. The only person who made him feel this way was Zita. He’d seen plenty of good-looking women on the movie set, but only Zita made his dick stand up and take notice.
Obi-Wan had no idea if this extreme attraction, and need, and want, would dissipate if they did end up in bed together. He was half afraid to find out. What if it didn’t disappear? What if he only wanted her more? Was that a good thing or bad? Honestly, it scared him to death.
Was he ready to be completely besotted the way Casper and Buck were? While he envied his friends and the close relationships they had with their women, it was also terrifying to give another human that much power over you. Losing Laryn or Mandy would destroy his fellow pilots. It would affect their ability to fly, to do something they’d trained their whole lives for. Did he want to be in their shoes?
Yes.
Fuck yes.
But only with Zita.
“Shit,” he swore out loud. He could feel the come on his belly drying. The scent of sex surrounded him. He’d never get any sleep if he didn’t clean himself up and attempt to stop thinking about the woman who was so close, and yet way too far away at the same time.
Nothing was stopping him from exiting his room and going down to room twelve and knocking on the door. Nothing except for the fact he didn’t want to scare her. Didn’t want to blindside her in the middle of the night by begging her to let him taste her. Make her come. Shove himself so far inside her body that neither would be able to think straight.
He was a terrible person for getting even harder at the thought of doing just that. They were still getting to know each other. If he did any of the things he was fantasizing about, he’d destroy the trust and camaraderie they were building. Hell, she might not even want him that way.
But Obi-Wan dismissed that thought as soon as he had it. A woman wouldn’t kiss a man the way Zita kissed him if she wasn’t interested in him sexually. She wasn’t a tease, her emotions were right there on her face for him to see when she looked at him.
No. He wasn’t going to rush this.
With that thought, Obi-Wan swung his legs off the surprisingly comfortable bed and shoved his briefs off. He grabbed them from the floor and walked butt-ass naked to the bathroom. He quickly cleaned the come from his body, yanked his underwear back on, and practically stalked back to bed.
This time when he lay down, he curled onto his side and attempted to think about the upcoming film shoot. About the things he was supposed to review, the uniform Logan would be wearing, and how he needed to check one more time that it was as close to the real thing as Hollywood could get it. About the conversation he’d had with Henry that evening after the meeting, who’d reassured him the chopper pilots were highly qualified and some of the best available.
When his eyes finally got heavy, it was a relief.
But even in sleep, his mind turned to Zita. He dreamed about her all night. About her smile. Her hair blowing in the breeze as she walked toward him across a field of wildflowers in nothing but a jade-green nightgown that dipped low over her tits and only reached her upper thighs.
When his alarm went off the next morning, Obi-Wan wasn’t refreshed. And his cock was hard as a rock once more. Sighing, he got out of bed and headed for the bathroom. If he was going to get anything done today—hell, if he wanted to walk normally—he had to take care of his needs. His sexual needs.
Control. He needed to fucking find it. He was a Night Stalker. Known for his legendary control. His ability to stay calm in the middle of absolute chaos. He was focused, reliable, and steady.
But right now, he felt none of those things. Zita had him turned inside out. And Obi-Wan found that he wasn’t sorry. Not in the least. His blood seemed to sing with anticipation. With the thrill of the chase. He’d never felt this way, not even right before a particularly gnarly mission, which had always been a kind of high for him.
Zita Darlington had gotten under his skin, and he liked her there.
The big question was…did she feel even one tenth of the same? If not, he was in for a world of hurt. A huge letdown. And that was what had him hesitating to make his feelings for her known. It would kill him if she slept with him, wanting just a “friends with benefits” situation after all.
Because that wasn’t where Obi-Wan was headed. He had no idea how they’d make things work, but at this point, he was ready to do whatever it took to have a relationship with the woman.
Casper wasn’t going to be happy if he lost one of his pilots. Hell, Buck would be beyond pissed to lose his copilot. But Obi-Wan could no more ignore the feelings inside him than he could ignore a wounded SEAL, Delta, or fellow Night Stalker who needed extraction from behind enemy lines.
Taking a deep breath, he stepped under the scalding water of the shower. The sooner he jacked off and got dressed, the sooner he could see Zita.
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
Zita felt…off. She was usually completely focused on her job. On making sure the people on set were being safe, and watching for signs or symptoms of any kind of illness, or if an actor or actress was trying to hide a physical injury. They did that a lot, not wanting to be taken off set or, God forbid, replaced.
But today, all she could concentrate on was Sage.
