“Let’s finish it,” Kliment nodded.

Viktor’s phone began ringing loudly, and he picked up, while the three of us gazed at him in anticipation.

“Yes?” he said as soon as the call connected.

“Are you sure?”

“We will be there.”

He ended the call and met with our expectant gazes.

“Both Stavros and Petrov are at the location,” he confirmed and I felt a dull ringing in my ears. This was the moment I had been waiting for.

“Let’s go.”

All of us gathered in cars and drove towards the pinned coordinates we had access to. Viktor was also tracking both Manny and Adrian on his iPad right beside me, the two of them appearing like little dots on the screen. It was three in the morning, and the entire city was naturally asleep. I had made sure that our attack remained as low-key as possible. I wasn’t going to risk tipping off these two vermin and running away before they got caught.

The compound sat twenty miles outside Miami. It was a private property with high walls and armed guards and enough cameras to make a paranoid man feel safe. But none of this was even nearly enough to stop us. Our three black SUVs rolled down the access road without headlights while the fourth approached from the rear. It was Jarek.

I already knew the fifth waited on standby, being led by Avgust and Chernykh soldiers. It was a unified strike force and every position had already been assigned. Every entry point had already been studied. Every possible escape route had already been covered.

It had taken weeks of preparation, months of frustration, and years of consequences for us to get here and tonight, all of it ended. I had to make sure of it. The convoy that had been planted by us reached the property gates, and the doors opened since the vehicle was marked with Petrov insignias. The front doors opened and our men dressed in neutral clothing exited.

Their weapons were checked and communications confirmed. Viktor had made sure to plant a very believable convoy. I stepped onto the pavement and the humid night air wrapped around me. Kliment moved beside me, his eyes on the doors as well.

“Are you sure about this?”

“Yes.”

“No second thoughts?”

I looked toward the distant compound. Toward the men responsible for everything Vera had suffered. Everything she had sacrificed. Everything she had endured.

“None at all.”

Kliment nodded once, and then he looked toward the others.

“Go.” The assault began immediately.

The outer guards never even saw us coming. Our suppressors reduced gunfire to sharp cracks and bodies hit the ground before alarms could be raised. The perimeter collapsed in less than two minutes. We were professional, efficient and clean. I had explained time and again that mistakes were entirely unacceptable this time. If Manny and Adrian found out about the attack before we reached them, their chances of escape would increase.

I was not ready to let that happen.

Jarek’s team secured the eastern approach and Fyodor moved west. Kliment pushed through the center and I headed directly toward the main building, exactly where intelligence said Adrian Petrov would be. The front doors exploded inward and men flooded through. Gunfire erupted instantly. The first guard died before he cleared his weapon and the second only made it three steps. The third managed half a scream, but then silence returned.

I kept moving.

Room after room. Hallway after hallway. The resistance was stronger inside but still not strong enough. A man appeared from a side corridor, and I shot him twice. Another emerged behind him. Then another. Then another. Bodies dropped, and smoke filled the air. I could hear faint shouting echoing through the building and I knew the entire structure had become a battlefield. Romanov men were everywhere and the enemy soldiers were being neutralized on all fronts.

I kept moving because I only had one objective in mind. One destination. One man. And I needed to find him. I was sure both Adrian and Manny must have been alerted by now, but every exit was already taken by our men. If they tried to escape, we would get to them first. I kept looking and finally found Adrian trying to escape through a service corridor.

Typical. He was not leading or fighting but running away like the coward he was.

The moment he saw me, he stopped. Fear flashed across his face. Then anger. Then desperation.

“You.”

I raised my weapon, and he raised his.
