I texted Teo as soon as I was alone to tell him they’d visited me to apologize. Knowing him, he’d have found them daily until they did so. Now, he didn’t have to wonder if he needed to follow up with them.

MATEO

None of my finals were that involved – with soccer kicking my ass all over the place, I always made sure my course load in the fall was easier. This spring would be a challenge.

Zach, on the other hand, seemed to have his hands full.

We showered together almost every day and slept together every night, but he was so focused on acing his finals that he was exhausted. As soon as his head hit the pillow, he would fall asleep. His skepticism was obvious. “You don’t think you’ll be a distraction?”

Grabbing my laptop and earbuds, I shoved them both into my backpack. “I’ll watch a movie. I’ll be as quiet as a mouse.” He didn’t look convinced so I added, “And if you need more coffee or a snack, I can run and get them for you.” More silence. “I’ll give you a massage tonight.”

He finally succumbed to my persistence.

“Okay.”
