Wow. He said it. He said it for me.

“Am I off base?” Teo asked.

I leaned up on my elbow to see Teo in the dark. I could make out his head, leaning against my bed, and his broad shoulders, the shadow of his collarbone accentuating the muscles I knew were there.

“You can say it, Zach. I’m not going anywhere. Best friends for life.”

I don’t know why I was still hesitating. Well, I did. Teo didn’t know I was in love with him, and if he ever found out, that would definitely change our friendship.

“I love you, Zach. Pleeease, give me your trust.”

Fuck, he was begging.

“You’re right, Teo. I’m-” I swear the silence was almost deafening. “I’m gay,” I relented.

“Thank you for telling me. I’m so proud of you, Zach. I’m guessing I’m your first?”

I nodded, out of habit, then remembered he couldn’t see me. “No.” I cleared my throat, because that was an octave higher than intended. “No, you’re not the first person I’ve told. I mean, the guys I’ve been with knew.”

“Guys? How many are there?”

What does that matter? “I don’t know. Sixty or seventy?”

“Seventy?!”

I saw the silhouette of his body leap up and turn around. His muscular frame leaned over my bed.

“Are you naked, Teo?”

“Forget that. You’ve been with seventy guys?”

“Jesus Christ, calm down! I have not been with seventy guys. Where would I have found the time? I would’ve dehydrated myself. My real number is more like two.”

“Thank God.”

“Ask him again.”

There was that voice again.

“Are you naked?”

“Yeah. I didn’t think you’d notice.”

“You didn’t think your gay best friend would notice your naked jock body?”

I saw him shrug. “It’s dark in here.”

“Not dark enough.”

“Apparently,” Teo agreed, as he placed his hands on his hips. “I hope you enjoy it, Zachary.”

If the bastard only knew how much. “So what? You sleep naked now?”

“Yup.”

“I feel like I don’t even know you,” I teased.

“Me? You’re the one that’s suddenly gay!”
