“Where… Wow. Where is this coming from?”

“It seemed like a good time to remind you that in between all the crazy monster shit we have to deal with, you and I are first and foremost a couple. And I’m not open to sharing you with anyone. Is that clear?”

“Um, yeah. Yes. I get it.”

Cody started to pull his hands away, but Demetrius grabbed his wrists and held his hands in place. “That goes both ways, right?”

Cody kissed him again, tongue once more filling Demetrius’s mouth, but moving slower this time, more sensually. When the kiss ended, Cody gave him a single nod. “It absolutely does. I’m yours. Every moment in my heart and soul, and every inch of my body.”

Demetrius nodded. “Good.”

“Good.”

Cody moved back into his seat and buckled himself in. He checked the side mirror, put the truck into gear, and pulled back onto the road.

Demetrius’s mind raced and his heart pounded along in time. His lips were bruised from the force of Cody’s kisses, and he touched the tips of his fingers to them, unable to keep from smiling as he thought about what had just happened. If only his younger self back in high school, secretly crushing on his straight best friend, could see what would eventually develop between them.

He considered telling Cody to forget about the cemetery, to just turn around and drive them home. But that would take the edge off the anticipation, and he really loved the connection he felt between them right now. The heightened senses and shared excitement for what was to come… literally.

Cody turned into the driveway of Hollow of Eternal Rest cemetery, and Demetrius shook his head slightly to clear it. He needed to focus on the matter at hand, and not get distracted by the thought of Cody’s big cock plowing his ass.

“Uh oh,” Cody grumbled.

“What?” Demetrius looked around, afraid of seeing a line of zombies lurching toward the truck, but finding nothing threatening.

“Sheriff’s car behind us.”

“Oh?” Demetrius looked out the back window. “Is it Lucia?”

“Can’t tell. Sun’s hitting the windshield.”

“Are the lights on?”

“Nope. Cruiser’s just back there following us.” Cody shook his head, and Demetrius could see his knuckles whiten as he tightened his grip on the steering wheel. “Where do you want to go? The main office?”

“Let’s try out by the Widow’s grave again. Not that the guy would have hung around out there all day, but that’s the last place I saw him.”

“Okay, if I can remember how to get back there.”

After a few wrong turns and a couple of backtracks, Cody got them to the right area. Demetrius kept a cautious eye on the side mirror, watching the sheriff’s car trail after them, keeping four car lengths back. He wondered if Lucia had any news on Dottie and the whereabouts of the Cadillac, and hoped it was her in the cruiser simply giving them a hard time.

Cody parked the truck on the grass along the side of the road, and they both got out. A short distance away, a mound of dark earth covered by flower arrangements stood out against the bright green of the late spring grass. Demetrius stood beside Cody on the driver’s side of the truck, and they watched the sheriff’s cruiser pull up behind. The cruiser door creaked as it swung open, and Demetrius’s heart sank when Deputy Ryan Zellmer stepped out.

“Never thought I’d miss Lucia,” Cody muttered.

“What brings the two of you back out to the cemetery?” Zellmer set his sheriff’s hat on his head as he sauntered toward them, his eyes hidden behind those damn mirrored sunglasses.

“Paying our respects,” Demetrius said.

“Looking for my car,” Cody added. “Any update on that?”

“Can’t say as I’ve heard about it. Didn’t you get a chance to pay your respects earlier?”

“We were kind of interrupted by an act of grand theft auto,” Cody said. “Sure you haven’t heard any updates?”

Zellmer stopped and stared at Cody. “Are you calling me a liar?”

“I never used that word.”
