"How many brothers do you have?" I asked before I took another bite.
"Five. And one sister."
My eyes widened at the number. "That's a lot of siblings."
"How many do you have?"
"Just one. Liv's younger than me."
"I can't imagine only having one sibling. It must have been quiet."
"It didn't seem like it at the time. My mom used to complain that she was going to go deaf from all our screaming. We fought over everything: toys, clothes, shoes."
"Are you friends now?"
I thought about how I was the one she called when she needed advice on school and boys. "Yeah. We are."
"Then that's all that matters."
We finished eating, and Boone cleaned up our trash. He came back to bed and asked, "Now, where were we?"
He rolled me so that I was flat on my back and his hips were between my legs. He was already hard. "I've been thinking about this all night."
I huffed out a laugh. "We literally just met, and we had sex in the hot tub."
"That was so long ago." He kissed me, and I forgot about what we were even talking about.
This man had the ability to make me forget why I was in Colorado, and it wasn't to have the hottest sex of my life.

BOONE
Iwoke up before dawn and slipped out of Kennedy's room. I didn't know anything about her except that she was from Florida, I was addicted to her body, and I wanted to see her again.
I'd convinced myself that we could have an affair while she was here. She'd leave in a week or two, and I'd go back to my solitary existence. She'd be a blip in an otherwise staid life. Sure, I'd remember our time together, but I wouldn't be devastated when she went because I knew she was leaving.
I'd be able to compartmentalize this relationship into the length of her vacation, and I wouldn't have a problem moving on.
That was what I told myself as I pulled on my briefs, then slacks, and reached for my button-down shirt. I watched Kennedy sleep on her stomach, her face pointed in my direction, her eyelashes long over her cheeks. She looked so peaceful while she was sleeping. And I wanted to touch the length of her back, dropping kisses as I went. I wanted to wake her with my lips on her body.
Except I'd kept her up throughout the night already, and I had to get to work. Dad sent a text after his announcement last night that I was scheduled to have breakfast with Ms. Barnes.
It was the last thing I wanted to do. But I was a professional, and I'd see this thing through. I'd let this woman do her thing and hope my parents saw through her.
They'd come around. They had to.
In the meantime, I'd look forward to spending more time with Kennedy. I didn't want to leave things to chance, so I grabbed the small pad of paper on the nightstand and a pen. I wrote:
Kennedy, I have to go to work, but I'm hoping we can see each other later. — Boone.
I scribbled my phone number, then gave her one last look before walking out. I felt better than last night. The announcement didn't seem so ominous in the light of day. Not after the night I'd had.
It took the edge off having to meet with the designer this morning. The memory of the many times Kennedy and I had sex last night, and her taste on my tongue, would carry me through. I'd survive this meeting, and it was all because of Kennedy.
She was still a bit of a mystery. We hadn't talked about our jobs, only a little about our families. But I'd enjoyed hanging out with her, and I loved her body.
We had insane chemistry. It was like nothing I'd ever experienced before, and I wanted to experience it again.
