"Of course."
"You're my kinda girl. You look hot in an evening gown, but you can dress down and eat a burger in bed."
I stretched out on the bed, resting my head on the pillow. "That's me. Low maintenance."
He picked up his phone. "I'll order."
I waited while he pulled up the menu. "You can charge it to the room."
It was my room though. I should pay for our dinner. Especially after that performance in the hot tub. I couldn't remember a time that I felt more content. Good sex will apparently do that for you. I should indulge more often.
But how often did you meet a man like Boone? He was muscular with scruff on his chin and hair across his chest. He didn't manscape like so many men in Miami. His hands were rough, telling me he worked with them. I never knew I liked that before. Most men in Miami were dressed nicely and shaved smooth.
Boone was the mountain man that my friend, Jodi, had teased me about. She'd said I'd find a lumberjack that caught my eye, and I found him on my first night. I wish I could snap a picture and send it to her. But that would be rude, and I'd never violate his privacy like that.
He finished ordering, then set his phone aside. He grabbed a remote and turned on the gas fireplace under the large screen TV. "What do you want to do?"
"Watch a movie? I know that sounds lame, but I rarely get downtime," I said, hoping he didn't ask for more information about my job or my life. For tonight, I wanted to be a mystery woman he'd never see again.
"That doesn't sound lame." He folded his arm under his head and turned on the TV. He put on a cop movie with action. I'd seen it before, so I didn't have to pay attention.
After a few minutes, he asked," Why are you all the way over there?"
I bit my lip and moved closer, surprised that he was as touchy-feely as he was. I didn't expect a man like him to want to cuddle after sex, much less order dinner in. Shouldn't he have pulled on his clothes and left before my hair was dry?
I settled onto his chest, my ear over his heart. It was beating a steady rhythm. My fingers tangled in the short hair, and I marveled at the warmth of his skin.
When there was a knock on the door, he patted my back. "I'll get it."
He waited for me to roll off him and then padded toward the door, fastening his button as he went.
His slacks draped just so over his ass. Whatever he did for work, it had to be physical. He was muscular and fit.
He returned with a tray and placed it on a nearby table.
I sat crisscross on the comforter, and he carried the plate to me.
"This looks so good."
"I love a good burger at the end of the night, and Jeremy—I mean the chef here—is great."
I dipped my fry in the ketchup. Normally, I'd ask follow-up questions, but I didn't want to talk about work right now. And he'd probably think it was weird if I started talking about the inner workings of the inn and restaurant. I took a bite of the fry. The saltiness hit the spot.
Then I lifted the burger in two hands and took a huge bite. I chewed, then wiped my mouth with the napkin. "This is the best thing I've tasted in forever."
Boone gave me a look and said, "I can't say the same."
I looked at him in confusion, and when I realized he meant that he loved eating me, my cheeks flamed. I threw the napkin at him.
He smirked. "That's a compliment."
"I suppose so. But your head is in the gutter when it should be on this amazing food." I was tired from traveling, and hungry after the pit stop at the airport food court, and now my muscles were loose from the hot tub.
"I'm in a beautiful woman's room, hoping to get one more chance to be inside her. Of course my mind went there."
I was a little surprised that he'd stuck around. "You're a flirt."
He chuckled. "I've never been accused of that. Maybe my brothers, Rowan or Hunter, but not me."
