“Hey, hey, hey. Look at me, Kiera. Right now.” He knew his sharp command would snap her out of her panic. “You girls are the most precious things in the world. I promise I am not going to kill her. That’s not even a thing in my brain, ok?”
Kiera studied his face, tears coursing down her cheeks, her eyes red and puffy. “O-ok, Uncle Eamon. I was bad. I shouldn’t have said a-anything.”
“No, sweet girl, you are not bad. It’s ok. We are going to talk to Daphne and get all of this straightened out. But no one is dying.”
“Pinky promise?” She looked up at him through her wet eyelashes.
Hooking his pinky with hers, he nodded. “Pinky promise.” He tickled her belly until she let out a watery giggle and snuggled in close to his chest. “I need you to do me a favor, Kiera. I need you to go with Freya while I help your Daddy with Daphne. You can stay here, but you just need to go cuddle her in the back of my truck.”
Her eyes lit up like the 4th of July and she squirmed out of his hold, running to the truck. “Auntie Freya, Auntie Freya! Yous here!”
Satisfied that Kiera was safe and taken care of, he approached Liam and Daphne cautiously. He did not want to spook her now that she was no longer screaming.
When he finally got his first look at her, his face cleared, and he sighed in relief. This was Daphne Stone, little sister to Damian Stone, one of his best friends and former associates. While Damian was not in the mafia, he consulted with them on certain medical needs in the past. He always wanted to keep the mafia away from his sister, so Eamon never pushed him to join. Backing up, he called Damian, who answered on the first ring.
“Hey, Boss E. What’s up?”
Damian chuckled at his growl. “I’m going to have Finnean’s head for spreading that around. But that’s not why I am calling. I have a bit of a situation and I hope you can help me out.”
He heard him shuffling things around and a whining, “But Zaddy, you’re gonna miss the movie.” Grinning to himself, he was so damn happy for his friend and his husband. They went through hell, but found their Little girl and submissive.
“Sorry, had to get Emma settled and step outside.”
“I’m sorry to take you away from movie time, but I wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t important.”
“Ok. I’ll help if I can. Tell me what’s going on.”
“First, I need you to know that she is 100% safe.”
“Who the fuck is safe, Eamon? Who do you have?”
“Your sister.”
“WHY THE FUCK DO YOU HAVE MY SISTER?” He yelled so loud he had to move the phone away from his ear and he saw Daphne perk up; she had clearly heard his voice.
“Damian! Help, Damian! They’re gonna kill me!” She was fighting Liam’s hold, but managed to get away and run to him. “D-Damian, please. You have to h-help me. Please!” She was sobbing and screaming into the phone.
He tried to speak, but she didn’t hear anything over the heartbreaking sobs. Whoever had told her he was going to kill her would pay dearly. He never harmed women or children, a known fact. With the phone still in his hand, he turned his back on everyone and walked a few feet away, trying to calm Damian down, too.
“I need you to keep a level head for thirty fucking seconds and let me explain what the fuck is going on. I’m not going to kill your sister.” It pissed him off that he even believed that was an option. He thought Damian knew him better than that. But that was a conversation for another day.
“Then start fucking explaining why my sister is sobbing hysterically, saying you’re going to kill her,” he growled.
“You know she is in North Carolina right now, right? With Liam and Kiera?”
“I knew that, but never pieced it together that it was your Liam. Fuck man, I’m sorry I overreacted.”
“Don’t even worry about it. I need you to calm her down and tell her I am not going to kill her. And then we need to figure out what in the fuck is going on that she would even think that. I’d like to get them all up to the house where it’s more comfortable, but right now, she is refusing to move from this spot.”
Sighing, he said, “Give the phone to her, I’ll talk to her.”
“Daphne, your brother would like to talk to you.” He had to bite back at laugh at her attempt to look pissed as she stomped over to him. She jerked the phone from his hands and, in a move that shocked everyone, she drew her foot back and slammed it into his shin.
“Damian! Get here now and save me. They’re gonna kill me and I don’t know what he said to you, but it’s the mob and they’re going to kill me. He told me I was going to die if the mafia ever got their hands on me.” She was growing hysterical again, but Eamon had to trust that Damian could get her calmed again. He stepped away to his truck to check on Freya and Kiera, giving Daphne and Damian some space to talk. He wanted to know what she was saying, but it would have to wait.
He also couldn’t help but admire her curvy, sexy-as-sin body. It was wildly inappropriate to be thinking of his friend’s sister like that, but it was like she had stepped out of his dreams into real life. She was no more than 5’2’’, long brown hair that had been pulled up in a messy bun, chocolate eyes, thighs he wanted to grab hold of and never let go, a soft, round tummy, and an ass he couldn’t wait to spank. Hearing the gravel behind him, he turned around to see a sniffling girl approach him, her head down.
“I’m, um. I’m sorry I kicked you. And my brother wants to talk to you again.” She handed him the phone and went back to Liam.
