They both tiptoed out of the room, looking down the hall to make sure no one was coming. It was eerily quiet; the only sound was the harsh wind whipping through the trees outside. Even from inside the house, she could hear the wind howling. Fuck, this wasn’t going to be fun. She followed Rae through the labyrinth of the basement, up a circular flight of stairs, down a long narrow hallway, and straight out the back door.

“Ok, keep following me. Fuck, it’s cold out here.” Their teeth were chattering, and they were shaking despite the winter coats Rae had found. She was freezing and knew Rae was too. They walked as quickly as they could through the falling snow. They walked for what seemed like forever when Rae finally spotted the mansion in the middle of the woods. It seemed so out of place.

“I really hate this place. My family sucked, but now it’s going to save our lives. I wish we could build a fire, but we don’t want to draw attention to ourselves. But the house will be warm and there is water and food and everything you could need.”

“Definitely no fire. But everything else sounds great. It looks like it’s about to be dawn. Once the weather clears a bit, we can figure out how to get to town. The new snow would have covered our tracks so they won’t know which direction we went in. Callum thinks that I’m just a dumb Little and will probably just assume we’re dead out here.” Daphne snorted.

“Yeah, well, Littles aren’t dumb and we certainly are not, and Callum is an asswipe,” Rae grumbled.

“He really is. But don’t worry, Eamon will take care of him and we will never have to see him again.” Daphne laughed as they sat on the couch in the living room. Wrapping the blankets around themselves, they huddled together to share what warmth they could. When the sun rose, they would keep trying to find their way to town.

As they were falling asleep, they heard voices and footsteps outside. They both froze and whimpered as they clung to one another.

Chapter 15

Eamon

They followed the GPS tracker to a mansion in the middle of nowhere. They kept quiet, and they didn’t want the girls to scream, so he went up to the door and slowly poked his head in.

“Daphne? Babygirl? Are you in here? It’s Eamon.”

He moved his flashlight across the large living room until it landed on two of the most scared Little girls he had ever seen. Their eyes were wide, and they were clinging to each other, tears streaming down their faces.

“Daddy!” Daphne screamed and ran to him. He hoisted her up in his arms and shushed her protests. He was more than strong enough to hold his babygirl.

“Hey, hey. You’re safe now, babygirl. My sweet, smart, brave girl. I’ve got you.” He rocked her back and forth, patting her back, holding her tight. When her cries settled, he let her slide down to her feet.

Taking her face in his hands, he kissed her forehead, her cheeks, and finally kissed her mouth. He chuckled at her whine when he pulled away. “Trust me, I want to do more of that, but right now we need to get you girls out of here.”

“We can’t leave Rae. She helped me, and she’s Little like me. She was so scared, but she was super brave and helped get us here. Apparently, she had been planning to leave for a long time and had been putting supplies together so she could be safe. This is her family’s home, so it had lots of stuff we needed. Callum thought we were dumb, but we’re not. She’s my friend, Daddy. We can’t leave her behind.”

“Of course not, sweet girl. We are not leaving either of you here.” Turning to look at the terrified girl in the corner, he crouched down. “Hey, Rae. Thank you for being such a brave girl and helping to get my Little girl to safety. You are safe with us now. I have a whole team of my men outside who are waiting to see you back to my estate, where you will be safe.”

Slowly, Rae got up and walked over to Daphne. They grabbed hands and looked to Eamon for what to do next.

“Are either of you hurt at all? Are you able to walk?”

“We’re not hurt, Daddy. I have some scratches on me, but other than that, I’m ok.”

“I’m ok, too, Mr. Eamon. He didn’t like me, but he left me alone. Where is he, anyway?” Rae asked.

“We have him, and you never have to worry about him again. I promise.”

“What about all the girls there? And the other guards?” Daphne asked.

“Yeah, and Diana and Kayleigh?” Rae added.

“Everyone is safe and being moved to safe houses as we speak. The men are being taken care of, and Diana and Kayleigh are going to live a miserable life. I don’t harm women and children, but that doesn’t mean I won’t make their lives a living hell for what they did to you and to all those women.”

They both breathed a sigh of relief.

“Ok, girls, let’s go. Now, when we get outside, there will be a lot of men, but they are all my men. We are going to walk back to the SUVs that are only a short distance away.” Leading them out of the house, they all started walking.

“How did you find me, Daddy?”

“Well, I was a little bit sneaky, but I’m glad I was. I put a tracker on you and Kiera before you went into town. I placed it in your hair ties so it wasn’t obvious and wasn’t likely to get taken out.” He smiled at her shocked face.

“That was super sneaky, Daddy. But I’m glad you were because you saved me. Saved us. But I knew you were coming. I knew you wouldn’t leave me there.”
