Ahmina’s lips found his instinctively, and he kissed her back just as passionately. They fit together like they were made for each other, and she pressed further into his body as her tongue found his. She wanted to be as close to him as possible. Everywhere.
He met her intensity, one hand down her back and the other holding the bottom of her thigh, fingers creeping dangerously close to where Ahmina desperately wanted them to be. It wasn’t enough, she wanted more of him. All of him.
They broke apart, panting.
“I’ve been waiting for that.” He smiled, looking up at the sky. “Goddess, I’ve been waiting for that. I’ve been waiting for you.” His eyes fell back on hers, his eyelids half closed, drunk on love, and she giggled. He kissed her again quickly, pulling away to study her face, eyes travelling from her eyes to her mouth and back again.
She couldn’t think. She didn’t want to. It felt so good with Lennox. So right. Her lips found his once again, and she tore at his shirt, pulling it off over his head. She ran her hands over the muscles of his shoulders, arms, and chest while his hands explored her body. Everything blurred except for him as she ran her hands down his back. Her body ached, pain surging through her skin down to her bones. But she didn’t care, because the achy desire for him at her core was stronger.
A soft moan escaped her as he planted soft kisses down her neck, and when he came back up to kiss her, he groaned into her mouth, making her desperate for him. She wanted him, now.
“Ew,” was all Zeina had to say to shake Ahmina out of the high she was on.
Ahmina glanced over Lennox’s shoulder to find Zeina standing, arms crossed, with a Hydra at her side.
“ZEINA!” Ahmina squealed, yanking her shirt back down over her torso. She slid down Lennox, feet making a small splash as she hit the ground.
“Oh.” Zeina waved at the Hydra. “Yeah, this is Junie.”
“Excuse me?” Ahmina choked. Lennox sheathed the weapons that had fallen into the river but didn’t bother putting on his shirt.
She glared at him. “Hello? A Hydra!? Right there!” Why wasn’t he doing anything?
A grin erupted on his face, which he covered with his palm.
“Her name is Junie,” Zeina repeated. “And we came to save your lovesick asses. Speaking of…” She looked around. “Where is Barrow?”
“Disappeared,” Lennox said through his hand.
Ahmina was in shock. How was Zeina just standing so casually beside a Hydra?
A HYDRA!?
A Hydra named Junie.
“Well, I guess you don’t need our help then.” Zeina shrugged and the Hydra snorted before launching into the sky, its wings sending strong gusts of air at them.
Lennox’s hand found Ahmina’s, his voice low in her ear. “It’s okay stress-mina. Your sister is a creature whisperer.” He wore his classic lopsided grin, and Ahmina looked up at him and scowled. He rubbed the skin between her eyebrows with his thumb, shaking his head slightly.
Suddenly, the intensity of it all hit her and Ahmina felt sick. Finding the infant creatures, fighting Barrow, kissing Lennox, Zeina and a Hydra. What little she had in her stomach spewed out of her before she could stop it.
“Woah, okay, alright,” Lennox said, pulling her damp hair back behind her shoulders.
Ahmina’s cheeks heated. They had just been making out and now she was throwing up beside Lennox’s boots. Correction, on Lennox’s boots. Why was she always such a mess around this man?
She groaned, embarrassed, and he wrapped his arm around her shoulder. “It’s okay puke-mina, I still find you incredibly attractive—unfairly, painfully magnetic actually… even when you’re spitting up your insides.”
Zeina covered her mouth. “Okay, now I’m going to be sick.”
Ahmina held her abdomen as nausea sloshed inside her and she silently repeated don’t get sick, don’t get sick in her mind.
“Feel free to puke allllll over these boots, Mina. I need new ones anyway.”
Don’t get sick. Don’t get sick. Don’t get sick.
“I always knew you were lovesick for me, hah!” Lennox joked.
She threw up again, and between heaves, heard Zeina mutter, “your horrible humor is making it worse. Shut up.”
