Loveleena’s best friend has been missing for a year, and her parents are about to marry her off to a man with the personality of a spoon. When the top Defender offers her the chance to attend the Academy of Creature Defense—and get closer to the people who might have information on what happened to her friend—she jumps at the chance. The truth might kill her, but not knowing is worse.
Ahmina has trained for years to become a Defender—so why is she failing? If she keeps making mistakes, she will be expelled and shunned by society. It doesn’t help that Lennox, her unfairly hot Trivium lead keeps popping up everywhere, saving her like she’s some damsel in distress. But they’re just friends, right?
Zeina couldn’t care less about the Academy. Not until a free meal lands her behind its gates. To survive, Zeina must fake her identity until she can escape, but soon realizes the Academy might have more to offer her than she initially realized…including friendship with a deathly magical creature sent to kill her.

As the women unravel dark secrets about themselves and the Academy, they are forced to choose between who they once were and the women they are destined to become.

That is, if they can figure it all out before the creatures break through the Great Wall…
