“Josie has people over. You can’t roll up in my car and jacket with blood on your face and pants,” he warned, reminding me how much blood was still on me. “I don’t want you alone in case Razor sends men after you. I’ll put the Devils’ warehouse into the GPS. You drive straight there, understood? If you’re being followed, floor it. I’ll get a hold of Ty to let him know his party’s canceled.”
I clutched his keys and nodded, letting him lead me outside to his car so he could put the address in for me, and I couldn’t help the grin that spread across my face as I put my hands on the steering wheel.
“Straight there,” he warned, knowing I wanted to take the car for a spin. I gave it a rev, and he stepped back with a sigh. “Be careful. Don’t crash my car.”
I saluted him and drove off, putting the window down and letting the breeze cool my heated skin. The Corvette was nice, but the McLaren? I needed to make Skeeter let me drive it more often. It was a dream to drive.
I kept my gun on my lap the entire drive, following the directions on the GPS until I reached a road that took me to the middle of nowhere.
Finally, a massive warehouse came into view, and I breathed out a sigh of relief when I pulled in to find Hunter waiting for me, motioning for me to park in the spot beside his bike.
I killed the engine and stepped out, tucking my gun down the back of my pants and locking the car.
“Soldiers,” I said before he could ask, his eyes dropping down my body to inspect the blood that was still on me.
“Do you need medical attention?”
“No. The blood’s not mine,” I chuckled, following him towards the small door beside a massive closed roller door. This place made the Shed look tiny.
“I won’t bore you with all the rules here. Keeping your mouth shut about shit you see is the only one you really need to worry about. Don’t wander off either,” he explained as he held the door open for me to step inside.
Men were fighting in a cage in one corner, the bar was busy with Devils and crew whores, and someone was sitting on the hood of a white Charger that I was pretty sure had been stolen from Riverside two nights ago.
“You didn’t see that,” he said seriously as we walked past it, people glancing at me with mixed expressions on their faces.
“Why do I get the impression I’m not welcome here?” I muttered under my breath, making him snort.
“You’re wearing a Psychos jacket, babe. What do you expect? I’ll give you mine, if you want? I think it would look better on you.”
“No thanks,” I chuckled, recognizing Faris near the bar. He was doing shots with one of the other guys, and I cringed when I noticed a girl kneeling between them, jerking one of their cocks while she sucked the other. “Really? Right out here in the open?”
“I can tell you now that the Psychos do the same thing. Skeet probably just keeps you away from it,” he answered, guiding me past people until we reached some stairs. “Marco’s in the office. Head on up, I’ll be up in a second. You want a drink or something?”
“No. Can I watch the fights?”
“You can see from up there,” he said almost bluntly, telling me he wasn’t budging, so I headed up the stairs to the loft. I opened the door, finding Marco in a chair with his boots on the desk, a joint hanging out of his mouth.
“Should you be smoking that? Aren’t you supposed to be sober?” I asked dryly, his middle finger lifting in my direction.
“Fuck off, Mom.”
“You’re grounded, asshole,” I joked, moving towards him. “Why are you up here?”
“Same reason as you. Hunter said so,” he chuckled, blowing smoke in my face before offering it to me. I took it, having a long drag before passing it back. “You must have been in trouble if Skeet sent you here.”
“Soldiers attacked me. They’re cleaning up the mess,” I smirked, his eyes flashing with amusement as he checked me out.
“Tell Daddy all about it, Princess. I want all the gruesome details.”
He shoved some paperwork into a drawer and patted the desk for me to sit on, so I got comfortable and filled him in, sharing the joint between us.
CHAPTER TWELVE
MARCO
Rory was stunning when she talked murder while we finished the joint. Something flickered to life in her eyes as she explained what had happened with the Soldiers, and I wasn’t even sure she knew she was getting into it.
I saw it. The reason why Skeeter was so drawn to her. There was a darkness inside of her like the rest of us. She understood it, craved it almost, and the power that came from that could make or break a person. They either built empires to change the world, or they turned into Rage Evans and tried destroying it.
