And he could just imagine Izzy, face glowing and belly round with their baby. He’d probably smother his boy with affection and be flipping out every moment that something might go wrong. But what a beautiful, beautiful sight.
“Remi, say something.”
Oops. That was his name, which was a very bad sign. He’d waited too long to respond. He stroked his hands down Isaac’s back. “I can’t imagine anything more miraculous than you pregnant with our baby. We’d have to get you cute little overalls big enough to cover your baby bump.”
And, fuck, that sent a jolt of lust through him like nothing he’d ever imagined. His baby boy, pregnant by his seed. He didn’t even know why that was so hot, but it hit something possessive and hungry deep inside of him.
“And I would still be your boy?”
“Darling, if you think I Daddy you now, just imagine that times about a thousand. You’re going to have to tell me to back off if I get too protective, and I don’t think I’ll be able to keep my hands off of you either.”
Isaac looked up, nothing held back in his smile now. “Good. And I don’t think I’ll want you to hold back, as long as I can still work and see friends. I don’t want kids for a few years, though. I want to be settled in my career first.”
“Whatever you need, baby boy. You’ll just have to forgive me if I start buying things for our future offspring when I’m shopping for you.”
Isaac giggled. “Oh, God. Our house is going to be overrun with baby things.”
“Just as it should be.”
“So are we really doing this? Are you my for real, forever Daddy?”
“Nothing would bring me greater happiness.” He cupped Isaac’s face in his palms. It was finally time to say the words that had been lurking in his heart for so long. “Isaac, Izzy… I love you. I think I’ve been in love with you since I saw you laying on that picnic table, whining at Tommy on your phone. Thank God for Tommy.”
Isaac wrinkled up his face. “I wasn’t whining.”
Remi raised one eyebrow.
“OK, maybe just a little bit. And I love you too, Daddy.”
“You’ve just made me the happiest Daddy in the world.”

Isaac
Isaac watched the screen as he brushed his teeth. The app filter put a prehistoric jungle in his background and a dinosaur cap on his head. The little indicator changed color, so he started brushing faster to make sure he earned his sticker.
He wasn’t little right now, but he loved the adorable app. Daddy had sent it to him one night when he said he was too tired to brush his teeth, and now he was kind of hooked. His sticker gallery had twelve stickers in it already, and he’d even gotten a badge a couple days ago for being a toothbrushing hero: bronze level.
The timer ticked down to the end, and his new sticker appeared in a burst of confetti. An apatosaurus! He clicked and the app showed him four pictures of himself brushing his teeth and asked him which one he wanted to decorate.
He chose the one where he looked absolutely ridiculous, kind of cross-eyed trying to reach his molars and see the screen, and added the new sticker to the corner. Then, he saved it and sent it to Daddy.
A warm pulse of happiness shot through him. Sending Daddy his pictures was better than stickers.
All of the stress of the long hours and studying for finals slipped away, because as soon as he brushed his teeth, that meant his work day was over.
He went through the rest of his evening routine, secure in the quiet knowledge that Daddy would call sometime soon to tuck him into bed. The two of them had stayed up far too late last night on their dinner date, and Daddy had declared that tonight was just going to be a quick chat to make sure he got to sleep on time.
Isaac said goodnight to his roommate, Victor, who by now was well-aware that he had a Daddy. He’d been trying to keep it a secret, but when he’d gotten horribly embarrassed after slipping during a phone call one day in the kitchen, Victor had just snorted and said it wasn’t the first time.
Victor’s outlook on Isaac’s relationship was that it wasn’t his business, which was good enough for him. They didn’t have much in common anyway, and Victor spent most nights at his girlfriend’s house. Mostly, it meant that Isaac was much more comfortable in his apartment, since he didn’t have anything to hide.
Well… he hid a lot of things in the box at the top of the closet until Victor left on the weekends. But not the Daddy part.
Since Daddy hadn’t called back, Isaac started folding his laundry. He always found that relaxing. He’d gotten juice all over his favorite porcupine onesie during their video playdate last week, but it was clean now. He held it to his cheek for a moment before moving on to his grown-up clothes.
He was almost done putting things away when the phone finally rang.
