“So you’re not a morning person?” Neil asked, already looking more relaxed.
“Nope. And you’re already seeing me after a cup of coffee.”
“Are you going to eat?” Neil looked between his own full plate and the small, empty one in front of Jamie.
“Mmmmmm… Daddy will bring my breakfast out in a minute.” Jamie reached into the bread basket and put a piece of cornbread on his own plate. “Ooh! Blueberries. Daddy made me blueberries!”
That brought out Neil’s smile. “I had one already. They’re very good.”
Jamie turned to watch Neil’s reaction. “Daddy made the cornbread, you know. And he said you’re supposed to eat your breakfast like a good boy.”
There was that beautiful blush, right on cue. Neil glanced down his own plate, then his eyes darted around the table. “No one else has those,” he whispered.
“No one else is a sweetheart like you,” Jamie replied. He noticed that Neil’s blue shirt matched his pale blue eyes exactly. Like everything else about Neil, the color seemed to be designed to fade away, but when you looked closely, he shone.
Neil sucked in a breath. “If you’re trying to… seduce me or something, you don’t have to. I mean, I’m interested. So, yes to your question last night. But you don’t need to do anything special.”
Jamie was beginning to discover that he had a real thing for older guys looking innocent and shy. Knowing that Neil probably handled bajillion dollar corporate mergers without batting an eye but flushed pink over muffin cut-outs was really doing it for him. He’d have to thank Ty later.
“And if we want to do something special?” Jamie pressed. “Are we allowed?”
Neil nodded, gaze fixed on the little hearts. “I guess so. I mean, yes. I just… find it hard to believe.” His laughter was almost giddy.
“Well, prepare to be pampered to death. Now that you said yes, we’re probably not going to let up.” Or at least that was how it had been with Henri, back in the day.
Neil touched one of the cornbread pieces, a wondrous smile on his face.
Jamie slid his hand up Neil’s thigh under the table, just to see his shocked and pleased reaction.
Just then, Daddy came by with Jamie’s plate. Three scrambled eggs, a pile of broccoli, and no potatoes to be found. The same thing he ate most mornings.
Neil nudged him. “It looks like your Daddy pampers you, too.”
He definitely did. “Thank you, Daddy.”
Daddy looped his arms over him from behind the chair, so he twisted his face around for a backward and upside down kiss.
When they broke apart, Daddy rumbled. “Good morning, Neil.”
“Good morning… Sir?”
Daddy slid into the chair on Neil’s other side, grinning. “Is that a yes?”
Neil took a deep breath. “It is. If you’re still interested.”
“Very much,” Daddy told him. “You’re a special boy.”
Neil shook his head. “This all feels like a dream,” he replied, gazing into Daddy’s eyes. But his hand dropped to tangle with Jamie’s fingers on his knee.
Jamie felt a warm glow inside. He loved watching Daddy reveal a different side of himself, but having Neil so clearly want to touch Jamie too? He couldn’t say why it meant so much to him.
Neil looked between them. “Are there rules for this sort of thing?”
Sebastian gave Jamie a long, searching look. They hadn’t talked about this except for that quick exchange in the kitchen, but… was it time to change their usual rules?
Jamie searched himself for every sign of jealousy and he couldn’t think of any. He wanted Neil to want him. But as long as he did, he wouldn’t mind at all if Neil and Daddy had their own moments. Maybe Neil might even want to play with Jamie without Daddy, a vision that sent tingles through him.
He nodded, letting Daddy take the lead. It was just a weekend so… they could try something different with this sweet sub who wanted someone to take care of him.
