They made a quick trip out to the backyard just as the sun was setting. Levi grabbed a few logs, hefting them easily, while Saul shone his cell phone flashlight and held up the tarp.
“Just four is good. Any more than that and we won’t be able to use them tonight, so we’d bring bugs into the house.” Four was about all that Saul could usually carry, but for all that Levi was slender, it was clear that he could have grabbed twice as much. Longer arms. More muscle mass.
Saul just hoped that one day he’d stop worrying about things like that.
He grabbed a pile of kindling from the back porch on the way in, and snagged a few envelopes out of the recycling bin. With a judicious use of lighter fluid, he soon had a blaze going.
Levi settled beside him as they watched the flames. “Daddy, you’re going to spoil me.”
“I know, sweet boy. That’s the plan.”
“Yes, but you don’t have to say yes to everything I ask for. Like, I think you didn’t really want to go dancing yesterday. And we didn’t need a fire.”
“You know what? I didn’t want to go, but then I had a wonderful time because I was there with you. And this fire place? I loved the detail when I bought the house, but I’ve only used it a handful of times. You make me appreciate things. Even more, though, it makes me happy to see you happy.”
“I know. I just… I don’t want to be greedy. I really meant it before that just being with you would be enough.”
Saul turned so that they were both kneeling together. When he went up on his knees and Levi sat back on his heels they were the same height. But more importantly, it felt natural. Like they were finding the right ways to fit together.
He traced around Levi’s face, getting to know the contours and dips, the first bristling edge of where his beard started. He was so precious.
“Don’t ever be afraid of asking for what you want. I might not always give it to you. But that’s just the thing, baby. I’m still new to this Daddy business, but I’m pretty sure that it’s your job as my best bratty boy to ask for everything in the world. And it’s my job as your Daddy to set reasonable limits when you need it and spoil you the rest of the time.”
“Am I close to the limits?”
“For marshmallows and dancing? Nowhere close. I think you’ve missed out on a lot of spoiling that I need to make up for. If you want limits, though, I can think of plenty of other things.”
“Like what?”
“Well, for one, I’d like to take control of your orgasms.”
Levi shivered. “Yes, please, Daddy. I didn’t even touch myself this morning in case you didn’t want me to.”
God, he was so perfect that Saul just had to kiss him. Slow and deep until Levi was melting into him. “Good boy,” Saul whispered.
“For another, I think you like it when I order for you or when you need to ask me for permission for things.”
Levi nodded eagerly. “Yes. That. But, um, only for little things. Is that OK?”
“That’s what I was thinking. I don’t want to run your life. I want to look after you.”
“Whew. I had an ex and… well, he wanted to control my job and my money and my relationship with my family and just… It was horrible.”
“Sweetheart, that sounds like abuse. If I ever do anything that makes you feel that way, I expect you to tell me right away. You can even safeword if you can’t find another way to express it.”
“Thank you. It was a long time ago and I feel like I learned my lesson. Like, I know what to look out for. What do you want to control?”
“I want to learn everything that you love to eat so I can order it for you. I’d like you to check in with me each morning and night when we’re not together. And if it’s something you’d like, I’d love it if you asked me for permission to buy treats when I’m not with you.”
“Like what?”
“I think that would depend on what you like. Desserts, maybe? Alcohol? Fun things that catch your eye?”
“And would you say yes?”
Saul gave him another kiss. “Probably almost every time.”
“I knew you would be the perfect Daddy.” Levi sighed happily and flopped down onto the floor. Saul leaned back against the base of an armchair and Levi wriggled around until his head was in his lap.
