“Yes?”

“I still want you. You didn’t screw this up. You recognized the problem, apologized for it, and explained why you made a reasonable choice based on a long history with Christy. I trust you.”

“I… thank you. I don’t feel like I deserve it right now. Like, less than twenty-four hours and I’ve already messed things up.”

“Hey, can we switch to a video call? I want to see you.”

Levi didn’t even answer, he just pushed the button and a moment later Saul’s round cheeks and worried eyes filled the screen. Even on a Sunday, his hair was perfectly combed and he was wearing a black shirt with a sharply folded collar that added to his aura of power.

Levi was still laying on the couch, his phone held above him. He was sure that his hair was a total mess, spilling out everywhere.

“Hey, baby boy.”

He tried to smile. “Hi.”

“Tell me what you’re thinking.”

“I just… I always screw things up. But usually not this way. Usually I’m too… well, I told you about that already. This just makes me worried that I’m going to mess things up again. And I really don’t want to disappoint you. I feel terrible.”

“I didn’t say any of that to make you feel terrible. And I’m not disappointed. I just needed to know what was going on.”

“I know. Now I’m probably being too dramatic.” He didn’t feel dramatic, though. He felt sad.

Another look of irritation crossed Saul’s face and Levi shrank back. “I can go. You probably have important things to do.”

“No, that’s just the thing. I want to be there with you, and I have to leave in about half an hour.”

“You do?”

“Yes. And I’m frustrated about the timing because I need to make sure that my baby’s alright, and I would rather do that with you in my arms.”

“You would?”

“Who am I, boy?”

His throat caught. “Daddy?” he whispered.

“Is that a question?”

It had been, actually. But maybe it shouldn’t be. “You’re Daddy.” He felt better just saying it.

“That’s right. Now, I want you to sit up and find a way to prop up your phone so I can see you.”

A command. Good. That was what he needed. He grabbed the stand he used for his tablet and returned quickly to the couch. “Is this OK, Daddy?”

“Very good, boy.” Oh, God. Levi got all shivery every time he heard that voice. He wasn’t sure if he was supposed to be turned on right now or not, but he totally was. Maybe they were just having a conversation, though.

“Take off your shirt.”

Oh, fuck. This wasn’t just a conversation. Levi whipped his shirt over his head and waited for the next instruction.

“Show me your hands.”

Levi’s first thought was to just present them, palm out, for inspection. But he wanted to show Saul just how submissive he was feeling. How much he needed to be guided.

He raised them to his chest, fingers loosely closed and wrists pressed together. If he were waiting to be cuffed, this was exactly how he’d present himself.

“Beautiful, boy. I want you to imagine, now, that those are my hands. That I’m going to be touching you.”
