When I was calmer, I opened my eyes to find him watching me intently.
“Don’t make me wait,” I whispered, reaching for him.
I didn’t want any distance between us. I needed him close, needed the connection only he could give me.
With a low, rough sound, he moved over me, pressing close, his body solid and warm against mine. His mouth found mine, grounding me as everything else faded away.
A gasp slipped from me, and he stilled, drawing back to search my eyes.
I knew what he was looking for. Fear. That I wasn’t okay with this. But he didn’t have to worry.
I knew who was here. I knew who was holding me. I wasn’t letting shadows of ghosts ruin something this perfect.
My hands slid over his back and up his neck to cup his face. When he started to pull away, I tightened my legs around him, holding him in place.
“I know it’s you, Simon,” I murmured softly. “I’m okay. I know it’s you.”
He dropped his head to my shoulder, resting it there as he took a shuddering breath.
“Tell me if it gets too much,” he whispered against my skin.
“I promise,” I reassured him, tilting my hips slightly.
He moved. I clutched at him, running my hands back down his back and digging my fingernails into his firm muscles as he moved harder, faster.
“More,” I managed, my voice breaking. “Don’t hold back.”
He didn’t. The rhythm deepened, pulling me higher and higher until I couldn’t hold back the cry that broke free as pleasure crashed over me again, taking him with me.
Simon shuddered once more before going still, his eyes locked on mine. Then he lowered his head and kissed me, slow and loving. I melted into it, my body still humming, my heart full of love for this man.
He was hard with everyone else and ran his club with an iron fist. But not with me. I got the softness beneath it all. The warmth behind the cold. He was… mine. Perfect for me.
“Love you, Simon McKee,” I whispered.
“Love you too, Julianna Fraser. Thank you for trusting me.” He pressed a kiss to the middle of my chest.
Without pulling away, he leaned towards the bedside table and picked something up. I startled when cool metal slid onto my finger.
“Soon to be McKee,” he murmured with a smirk.
I laughed, lifting my hand to look at the diamond now resting there. “It’s beautiful. Thank you.”
“Nah, darlin’. Thank you.” He kissed me again. “Best thing to ever happen to me. I’m looking forward to what the next few years bring us. Even with all the shit swirling around us. I’m looking forward to navigating them with you.”
A soft, emotional laugh escaped me.
Gah, this man.
“Ditto, lover. Ditto.” I pulled him back down for another kiss, knowing he was right.
I’d choose this, choose him, this life every single time over the half-life I was living before I met him and the Kings of Anarchy North Dakota Chapter.
CHAPTER 25
LAWLESS
My bike rumbled beneath me.
