“I’ll let you fill Glacier in while I top us up.” Lurch picked up my mug and went into the house, leaving Glacier and me on the porch with a snoring Lawless.
“What’s going on, sweetheart?” Glacier asked.
I turned so I could see him. “Well, first, it seems the brothers were so happy for us that they partied a little hard last night.” I nodded at Lawless. “Lurch came up with the idea of me opening a feed store in Bitterthorn. Apparently, the Kings own a property next to the hardware store, which is up for sale. Lurch wants to buy it as long as I run it. I told him I’d need to see the store today and speak to you and my family before I can decide. Although it would be better for transporting guns because they’d be nowhere near the ranch.”
“More dangerous for you, though,” he pointed out.
I shrugged. “Comes with the life we lead, honey.”
Glacier eyed me with a frown. “We try to keep our women out of danger.”
“I’m not most women,” I stated. “I’m already in danger of being arrested for transporting. We’d have more control on your home ground. I’m not an idiot, Glacier. I'm sure you’ve got the local sheriff in your pocket.”
Lurch laughed softly as he came back onto the porch and placed our mugs on the table. “She’s smart, Glacier, and not the kind of woman you keep in the dark. Maybe you should let her know about Jude and the boys.”
Glacier sighed and rubbed a hand over his face. “I will, but not today.” He looked at Lurch. “Find out if we can see the hardware store, and I’ll get the keys for the shop next door. Juju can take photos to show her dad and brother. And take that fucker home.” He waved at Lawless, who let out a loud snore. I sniggered.
I wasn’t sure, but I thought he might be drooling. It was hilarious seeing him like that. I had a feeling not many did.
Lurch nodded and drained his mug, nudging Law's knee with his foot.
Lawless groaned as he blearily peered at Lurch. “What the fuck, dude?”
“Come on, let's get you home.” Lurch pulled him up and held him steady.
Glacier shook his head. “Fucking hell, Law. You’re drunker than a skunk. What the hell happened last night?”
“Celebrating you and your Ol’ Lady, Pres.” Law smirked, then wobbled.
Lurch sighed and pulled Law’s arm over his shoulder. “Come on, you ass. Let’s get you home.”
Laughing at the two of them, I buried my head in the crook of Glacier's neck.
“You think they're funny, huh?” Glacier teased, pinching my side.
“They are. It’s nice to see this side of them.”
“You’re lucky, baby. Not many do. Means they trust you.”
I sat up so I could see him better. “I trust them,” I admitted softly. “You know that’s not easy for me.”
His eyes softened, and he wrapped his arms around me, pulling me to his chest. “They’re good men. Hard men, but good men.”
“I know,” I replied, sighing happily.
I snuggled closer, resting my cheek on his bare chest and enjoying the peacefulness of the morning now that Lawless was no longer snoring next to us. I’d always loved this time of the morning, when everything felt soft and unhurried.
Glacier brushed his lips over my forehead. “Went bare last night, darlin’. I wanted you to know I’m clean. Got checked the week after I met you.”
I pressed a kiss to his chest before settling my head back on his shoulder. “I’m clean too. Hadn’t been with anyone for over a year before you. We used protection, but I still got checked after.”
His arms tightened around me. “Babies?”
I hummed a sigh. “Yeah, that may be a problem.”
“Not for me.” His voice rumbled under my ear. “But you’ve been there and done that already.”
Lifting my head, I cupped his cheek. “You want babies, Simon?”
