CHAPTER FIVE

Serena

Kellan and I decided that we would only have a simple wedding, one where only certain people were allowed to come to. It was easy since we both didn’t have much family nor a lot of friends, but it was still nice to get all the RSVPs back than what I was expecting. The only crazy thing was that we did decide to get married about two months after getting engaged, so it was a little bit hectic.

I stood outside the doors that would lead into the altar room where Kellan and everyone else was waiting. I wore this white, flowing wedding dress that hugged my upper body nicely, but had a long train that flowed behind me as I walked. I never thought that I would find a dress that would immediately suit my tastes, but as soon as I had seen it while looking for dresses, I knew it had to be my number one.

Mom still doesn’t like the fact that I am getting married to Kellan, but now, she doesn’t even make remarks about it. I think in her own sort of way, she is slowly adapting and learning how to deal with things even if she doesn’t like it. I think we made it perfectly clear to her that no matter what she did, Kellan and I were going to be together. She didn’t have to like it, but that’s just how it was going to be.

“Are you ready?” The wedding coordinator asked me, looking a little worried.

I drew in a deep breath, feeling very nervous but I nodded my head. Like on cue, I could hear the music starting in the room. The coordinator opened the doors, revealing me to everyone in the room. My heart was racing as I stepped inside, trying to stay in pace with the music. I blocked out all the faces, my eyes leading up the aisle to see Kellan standing there, smiling at me as I saw tears in his eyes.

It took everything in me to not just bolt down the aisle, wanting to be in his arms already. I forced myself to walk at a steady pace, feeling the distance between us getting smaller and smaller until I was just a few steps away. Kellan held out his hand to me, and that was all it took. I reached out, grasping his hand and allowed him to pull me closer so we stood face to face.

“You look so beautiful.” He murmured softly, his eyes practically sparkling.

I grinned, “and you look handsome.”

The priest rambled on with everything he was supposed to say, but Kellan and I, we were in our own little world. Gazing into his eyes, I just knew this was it for us, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Kellan, do you take Serena to be your lawfully wedded wife?”

“I do.”

“Serena, do you take Kellan to be your lawfully wedded husband?”

“I do.”

“By the power vested in me by the church of Christ, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.”

I didn’t need to be told twice as Kellan cupped my face, guiding my lips to his. It was like sparks flew as his lips pressed softly against mine, a promise of what was to come. It was over too quickly as Kellan pulled back, a slight smirk on his face when he noticed I was pouting.

“Don’t worry, we will get to do more later tonight.” He promised me, slipping his hand into mine.

Turning towards the guests, everyone rose to their feet, clapping and cheering as we headed down the aisle, reveling in the newly wed feelings that were inside the both of us no doubt. I couldn’t wait for the reception, and everything that was going to happen next.

Tonight, I would make love with Kellan for the first time as husband and wife.

I can’t wait.

Kellan

Reception was great, along with the food. I quite enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere, hearing the laughs of our guests, and just enjoying our time together. I wanted to keep Serena by my side, but I know she wanted to run off and see some of her friends and family. I didn’t mind, loving the big smile on her face. I would get to have her all to myself later tonight.

“Kellan.” I heard a familiar voice.

I looked over, seeing Rosalie standing there. It has still been quite tense between me and her, but I can tell that she has been trying. After trying to get Serena to drop me for some rich dude, I have been more wary of her, not wanting to let her figure out another kind of way to get between Serena and me. I know it could be that I was a little paranoid, but one would only expect that after what she has done.

“Rosalie.” I greeted, wondering why she had approached me.

Rosalie looked away from me, looking a little ashamed, “listen. I’m not going to lie and say that I like you, but I do see that you make my Serena happy, and I shouldn’t have tried to butt into your guy’s relationship like that. It was wrong of me, and I apologize.”

“You’re forgiven.” I told her, but I wanted to make sure that she knew what my intentions were, “but if you do anything like that again, I can’t guarantee that you will have another chance with my family.”

Rosalie nodded her head, reaching out to give me a small hug, “okay, I can live with that.”

Before I could say anything else, Rosalie walked off to go talk to some older people that I could only assume were family members. I had no idea what she was thinking, but I suppose it is better to move on and not hold onto anger so long as she doesn’t do anything like she did again. I want to have a good relationship with my mother-in-law, and it seems as if she wanted to try and make this work.
