“Nevertheless.” I disentangled myself while still managing to clutch his wandering hand. “I’m on the condo board, Dade. I know far too many secrets. Having everyone know my business wouldn’t suit my sensibilities.”

He huffed.

I laughed.

The door slid open, and Dade tugged me out. “Does the hallway have cameras?”

“Yes.” They didn’t, but I figured he wasn’t going to go looking. And, although my neighbors were likely long asleep, it wouldn’t do to have them walking out and witnessing…whatever Dade had in mind.

He hadn’t had any wine, so he wasn’t tipsy. No, this playfulness was, I suspected, Dade’s true personality. I liked it.

After unlocking the door, I allowed him to pull me inside. I grinned as he pressed me against the closed door.

Then he sniffed. “I stink.”

“You don’t stink.”

He sniffed again. “You stink?”

I burst out laughing. “If you say so.”

His lower lip quivered. “I want to kiss you, but I want a shower. Can I have both?”

“Well, I don’t know about the propriety—”

He cut me off by tugging my head down and pressing his lips to mine. He nipped my lower lip.

I opened.

Taking that as the invitation it was, he thrust his tongue into my mouth. He plundered, all the while grabbing my hair in just the right way. The way that made my cock sit up and take notice.

Jesus, if he kept this up, I’d be fucking him in the front hall.

Which was so not the plan. There was no plan. We were supposed to pretend to be boyfriends for the night. So this hadn’t been negotiated. We hadn’t agreed to a hookup. Hell, I wanted more than a hookup. The past week had been some of the most fun I’d had in a long time—and we’d only just been conversing at dinner. Dade charmed and had a wit I appreciated. And a glorious sense of humor. This past week, I hadn’t felt alone. I’d felt heard. And seen.

Dade pulled back. “Uh, you are way up in that brilliant mind of yours. So…can we agree we’re going to do this? You’re going to fuck me, and I’m going to enjoy it, and tomorrow will sort itself out?”

How was a red-blooded man supposed to turn down that offer?

God knew, I didn’t have it in me. “Yes, I consent to...whatever you want.”

His eyes lit. “Okay, you shower, I shower, and we meet in your bedroom. Uh, if that’s not too weird. Or we can meet in mine—”

“My bedroom. Twenty minutes.”

He pressed his lips to mine. “I’ll make it ten.”

In the end, it took almost thirty. I had to contact HR to arrange to have them send a text in the morning, letting all the employees know not to come to the office. According to the weather channel, the storm was proving to be even bigger than predicted, and Vancouver was about to take a walloping. Better everyone take Friday off and have a long weekend. Oh, wait, Monday was Family Day in British Columbia. So everyone was getting a four-day weekend.

I’d be a very popular boss. Mostly because I’d told HR to announce that even people who worked from home could take the day off.

Dade pressed his bare chest against my naked back as I finished typing the email. “You’re giving everyone the day off.”

“Yes.” I hit Send.

He nipped my earlobe. “You, as well?”

“No.”
