He had dimples.
Kill me now.
His mouth was moving but the heavenly choir around me was too loud to hear him.
Something nudged me on my left side. I ignored it and continued staring at the dream in front of me. An arm wrapped around my shoulder, which shocked me out of the daze.
“She’s in a sugar coma, sorry.”
I blinked. “Sorry.”
“Then I’d sit down before you take your next bite. You wouldn’t want to blackout in the middle of the street.”
I smiled and nodded just grateful he was still speaking to me.
“Come on, Liam. We’re going to be late.” The voice came from a guy I hadn’t noticed standing a few feet from the man I ran into, Liam. He was almost as handsome as his friend with dark features and a lethal jawline.
Where were these men coming from?
Liam threw another smile in our direction before turning and joining his friend. I watched him as my heart sank further toward the ground. I turned to Sophia, ready to freak out about that run-in, when I caught my reflection in the window of the cookie dough shop.
Holy.
Oh no.
I turned and jogged after the guys. Why did the necklace change when I was on the other side of the country? Why did it have to happen when I was on a trip in a city I’d never been to and might never visit again? What was the universe trying to tell me?
“Liam!”
They both turned around at my voice. His friend looked annoyed but Liam looked amused.
“Yes?”
“You’re from around here?”
His amusement turned to confusion. “I’m going to NYU. Why?”
“My friend and I are here for the week, and we need ideas of what to do. Would you and your friend be willing to help us out?”
He didn’t say anything immediately, giving me plenty of time to freak out over the fact I just chased some stranger down the street and asked him out.
“Liam, we’ve got to go.”
He turned and held up a finger to his friend before facing me again. Luckily, he was smiling.
“Sure.”
“Sure?”
“We have rehearsal right now, but I’ll give you a call after.” He held out his hand.
I looked down at his hand then back to his face.
“Give him your phone.” I almost jumped when Sophia whispered in my ear. I slid it out of my pocket and handed it to Liam.
He took it for only a few seconds before handing it back.
“See ya.”
