Kendall sized me up. “No, Brassard knows better than to let us down.”
Huh. I hadn’t been threatened by anyone off the ice in a while. I just nodded and backed away. “Be at the lobby by ten thirty and wear a swimsuit under your clothes.”
Chloe slammed the door as I questioned whether I should have told them ten. I walked to the next door and knocked. A few seconds later, Hartman answered. “Yeah?”
“I booked us an excursion. We need to be down at the lobby by ten forty-five.”
He raised an eyebrow. “Just us?”
I ignored his wink. “No, everyone.”
“We need to train.”
His one-track mind was exhausting at times. “We can do some squats while we climb the Mayan temples.”
He tilted his head back. “Really? We’re going to see the temples?”
I nodded. “Yes, and I told the girls ten thirty to give them a buffer so don’t tell them.”
He laughed. “Good idea. Fine, we can skip training today.”
“Gee thanks.” I started walking away. “Can you tell Murray and Schultz? I’ll tell Olli on my way to my room.”
“Sure.” He followed me out and headed in the opposite direction.
I went to knock on Olli’s door when Emma walked up behind me. “I can let him know.”
“Thanks.”
I paused, and she turned and eyed me. “Is there something else?”
I looked at my feet and realized how dumb I was for planning and paying for Lucy and her friends to come. What if they already had plans? Was I setting myself up for rejection?
“I ummm…I did something stupid.”
Emma’s smile grew. “Tell me something I don’t know.”
I narrowed my eyes. “What are you talking about.”
She shrugged. “Nothing specific.”
I dropped my head back and groaned. “She told you.”
“Not as much as we wanted, but yeah she was really upset when we ran into her. She told us just a bit of what happened.”
I met her gaze. “So, you know how important it is for me to fix things.”
“You think there’s something to fix?”
“Of course. We were together for years. We were great together. I made mistakes back then, but that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t try again. I have a chance with her again, something I never, ever thought would be possible. I’m not going to waste it.”
“So, what are you planning?”
“I reserved spots for her and her friends to come today.”
Her eyebrows shot up. “Wow. I was not expecting that.” She bit her bottom lip. “That's risky.”
I nodded. “I need your help.”
