Riley threw a pillow at me. “Shut up. We liked that excuse.”
I laughed and sat next to Amber on the bed, she rolled over and sighed. “We may have stayed up all night last night talking about coming here.”
Elena laughed. “And now you’re too tired to enjoy it.”
Riley nodded and sighed.
I noticed trays waiting on their dresser and smirked. “Did you guys order room service?”
Riley nodded. “We didn’t even feel like walking down to meet you guys.”
Elena looked at me. “Look at us being the adventurous ones.”
Amber turned over and faced us. “Did you guys see any babes?”
I eyed Elena begging her to keep my secret. “Not really.”
“Actually, yes.”
Elena, the traitor. Evidently my telepathy was broken.
They sat up at once.
“Tell us more,” Amber practically begged.
“Just the guys from the Utah Fury hockey team.”
Riley squealed and kicked her legs in the air.
Amber met my eyes and frowned. “Is you-know-who here?”
I nodded.
She swore, and it sucked the air out of the room.
“What’s wrong?” Riley asked with wide eyes.
Amber seemed to be asking my permission with her eyes. I nodded. Elena knew, might as well get everyone up to speed.
“Lucy’s ex is on the team,” Amber said, “and he’s here.”
All eyes were on me.
“How could you keep that juicy bit of information to yourself and not spill it right off?” Riley asked with a wicked smile. “You’re killing us.”
“It’s not like we’re still friends. We lost contact in college.” I tried to deflect.
“Which one is he?” She had her phone in her hands with the team website already loaded.
I groaned.
“Colin.” Elena answered.
Riley was silent for about three seconds. “Colin Brassard?” Her voice raised an octave with each syllable.
“That’s him.”
“Holy crap, Lucy! He’s hot.”
