Her face twisted.
“Sianni ain’t no liar,” I added. “If she said they good, then they good.”
For as long as I’d known Sianni, I never knew her to be a fucking liar. If anything, that bitch was too damn honest sometimes. So, if she said she and Kyrie were good, then I believed her.
Marissa stared at me like I had grown another fucking head.
“Bitch, whose side are you on?”
I slowly looked over at her. “What?”
“You sitting here defending her ass.”
“I’m not defending nobody.” I sucked my teeth. “I’m telling you what I know. Sianni ain’t lying about shit like that. If she said she and Kyrie are good, then they probably are.”
Marrisa’s face twisted before she dropped back against the couch.
“Then what the fuck was the point of us doing all this shit?”
I frowned. “What you mean?”
“The pictures, Alexia.” She waved her phone in the air. “Getting Amani involved. Sending that shit to the blogs. What was the point if they still over there playing happily fucking married?”
“Girl, did you really think Kyrie was gon’ see a few old pictures and immediately file for divorce?”
“I thought it would do something?”
“It did.” I pointed toward the phone in her hand. “Everybody talking about them, ain’t they?”
“Yeah, but—”
“But nothing. The point was to get people questioning shit. Make everybody stop looking at Sianni like she got this perfect-ass life and perfect-ass marriage.”
“And I thought the point was to get Kyrie away from her.”
I stared at her for a second before letting out a dry laugh. Of course, her ass did. Everything always came back to Kyrie with this bitch.
“Marissa, everything ain’t about you getting Kyrie back.”
Her head snapped in my direction.
“Excuse me?”
“You heard me?”
Her eyes narrowed. “Bitch, you the one who said you was gon’ help me.”
“And I did help you. Ain’t nobody saying I didn’t.” I shifted on the couch and crossed one leg over the other. “But I got my own reasons for doing this shit too.”
“And I know that.”
“Then act like it.”
The room went quiet. Marrissa stared at me while I picked my phone back up and started scrolling again. I could feel her looking at me, but I wasn’t about to keep going back and forth with her ass over Kyrie. Especially when I had bigger shit to worry about. Amani’s warning was still in the back of my head, whether I wanted it there or not.
Because Kyrie ain’t letting this shit go. I sucked my teeth and scrolled past another post about Sianni and Kyrie. Marissa leaned over and looked at my screen.
“So, what now?”
