“Kyrie, that’s literally just her face.”

“Nawl, something wrong.”

I sucked my teeth and went back to my phone.

Ever since we brought our baby home, Kyrie swore he knew every damn look, sound, and movement. A little grunt meant something. A yawn meant something. Hell, according to him, even the way the baby blinked meant something.

And God forbid I tried to tell him otherwise.

“I think she hungry.”

“She just ate.”

“Well, maybe she wants some more.”

“Kyrie.”

“What?”

“You do realize babies do more than eat and sleep, right?”

He looked down at the baby before looking back at me.

“What else she got to do?”

I slowly lowered my phone. This nigga couldn't be serious.

“Kyrie Maddox.”

“What?” He laughed. “I’m asking.”

I shook my head and went back to what I was doing. A year later, and this man still got on my fucking nerves. But I wouldn't have changed that shit for nothing.

Life had been good to us.

Not perfect, because I had learned a long time ago that perfect didn’t exist. But it was peaceful, and after everything we’d gone through, peaceful was good enough for me.

Thankfully, all the bullshit from the year before had stayed right where it belonged.

In the past.

I hadn’t spoken to Alexia since the day we met up, and I planned to keep it that way. I didn’t know what the hell she had going on in her life, and honestly, I didn’t give a fuck enough to find out. As far as I was concerned, that bitch no longer existed.

Marissa’s ass had finally gotten the message too. After everything went down, I hadn’t heard shit else from her. No slick shit. No popping up. No trying to get Kyrie’s attention.

Nothing.

And that was exactly how I liked it.

As for Amani, his ass had tried reaching out a couple of times after everything happened, but there wasn’t anything left for us to talk about.

I didn’t hate him.

At one point, I loved him, so I couldn’t sit there and act like the shit we shared had never meant anything to me. But too much had happened, and giving Alexia those pictures was the last straw.

Whatever feelings I once had for Amani belonged in the past.

I had moved on.
