“Don’t do that.”

She laughed and leaned into me as I wrapped my arm around the back of her chair. The interviewer smiled before glancing down at her next card.

“So, underneath all the joking, what would you say has surprised you the most about being married to each other?”

That one made me pause as I looked over at Sianni. She wasn’t laughing anymore either.

“Probably how easy shit became,” I finally answered.

Sianni rolled her eyes, and I smirked.

“Shit like that. Somewhere along the way, being married to her just started feeling normal.”

Her fingers slipped between mine.

“And now?” the interviewer asked.

I looked down at our hands before meeting Sianni’s eyes.

“Now, that's my wife.”

Simple as that. I didn’t have to make that part up. The interviewer smiled, but after a few seconds, she glanced down at the cards in her lap again. Something in her expression changed, and I already knew the easy shit was over.

“There has been quite a bit of attention surrounding your marriage recently,” she began. “Some people online have questioned whether the relationship is genuine or something arranged for publicity. What do you say to the people who believe the marriage isn't real?”

I leaned back in my chair.

“People can believe whatever the fuck they want.”

“Kyrie,” Sianni murmured beside me.

“What?” I glanced at her. “I'm being nice.”

She pressed her lips together, and I looked back at the interviewer.

“Ain't shit fake about my marriage. People can sit online and make up whatever stories they want, but me and my wife ain't gotta wake up every morning and prove our shit to strangers. We know what this is.”

And that was probably the realest thing I'd said since this interview started.

The way we got here might've been built on some bullshit.

But what we had now?

That shit was real.

The interviewer turned toward Sianni. “Do you feel the same way?”

“I do,” she answered. “At first, some of the comments bothered me because people were making assumptions about something they knew nothing about. But, eventually, I realized I couldn't keep worrying about what everybody else thought about my marriage. Kyrie and I know what's real.”

I squeezed her hand.

Damn right.

The interviewer hesitated before continuing.

“And then there are the photographs that recently began circulating online.”

My jaw tightened.
