I could have called for a golf cart to the main building and considered it, but then decided that the exercise would do me good. The desert air cooled quickly after sunset, at least enough to make it enjoyable to stroll along the pathway.
Whoever designed the landscapes truly understood their palette. Succulents of all kinds lined the walk, varying heights and colors displaying everything the desert could offer. Most of the prickliest ones, I noticed, were set well back to save the customers and staff from injury.
I’d spent several childhood vacations in desert locations and always enjoyed the weather and the landscape. My omega dad said I was a wolf who liked to bake in the sun. But I also loved the fact that hot days gave way to cool, sometimes cold nights. Memories of the Sahara remained prominent in my mind. At the time, it never occurred to me that every young person didn’t travel the world and visit the pyramids, sail the South Seas, and have a private showing of the crown jewels of a country that very few people even knew existed followed by a picnic on the palace lawn with the young princes and princesses.
This American desert lay far from those places, but it reminded me of the ones I’d liked best, and by the time I arrived at the rear guest entrance to the main building, I was ready to enjoy myself.
“Good evening, sir,” the omega at the front door greeted me. “We have a table for you right this way.” He never asked my name, never questioned my right to be there. While I understood that not every visitor to the club was a guest at the hotel, I had the impression the young male knew who I was. A fact confirmed when he informed me that the club was a no-cash venue and all charges would go to my room. I supposed outside customers would run a tab, but I had no reason to inquire.
If there was a conversation area like at Cuffed, I didn’t see it, but the table I’d been given stood on a raised platform with a few others overlooking the main floor, which was at least twice the size of the one back home. I reached into my pocket, wanting to take a picture to send to talon of the layout then chuckled at myself.
I knew better than to take photographs inside the club, which was why I had left my phone back in the room. They would no doubt have checked it, but why bother? If I could get in when the venue was closed, that would be different.
Below, a path wound from station to station, from impact play to hot wax, to fire and violet wands. Right in the middle, on an elevated stand, an omega was being wound with ropes in an elegant display of the Japanese art of Shibari. I had no skill in this myself, but I always enjoyed the artistry and settled back to watch.
“Sir, would you like something to drink?”
I turned to find the omega who’d haunted my thought all day holding a tray. He wore a dark suit and a startled expression. “Trace. What a surprise. I thought you mentioned that you’d never worked here.” Or even gotten a good look at the place. Why…
“My first time. I’m filling in for someone. What can I get for you, sir?”
Every time he said “sir” my cock got harder.
“I think a tonic water.” If I played later, I preferred not to drink much or at all. “Light ice.”
“I’ll get it right away.” He left but returned quickly with my drink and set it on the table. “Will there be anything else, sir?”
“Yes. What do you think of your first night working in here?”
“It’s… I don’t know.” His cheeks flamed again, and he shifted from foot to foot. “Everyone seems to be enjoy themselves.”
“Don’t knock it if you haven’t tried it.” I offered a smile to show I was joking, sort of.
“Oh well. I’m working.”
“Maybe try it tomorrow night? Are you free?”
Chapter Eight
Trace
I hadn’t eaten all day. I had to force myself to gulp one of those hydration drinks, so I didn’t pass out but I was a wreck.
All because a gorgeous alpha asked me to try out a spanking bench.
What in the actual flying fuck was I thinking when I agreed to that?
I took a seat in between orders from the villa and took a few breaths.
“What’s going on with you?” Eddie elbowed me in the ribs after taking a seat next to me. “You look pale and…I’m actually worried about you. It’s difficult to look pale in the desert, but somehow you’ve managed it today.”
I chuckled and wondered if I should share what was happening with Azlan. Eddie dated some, and a few alphas had asked him out over the time we’d worked here, but he was choosy about who he dated.
“An alpha asked me out. Tonight. But I don’t think I’m going to go. I mean, it’s not really a date it’s…”
“Oooh, you have a fuck date? Who is it? What room is he staying in?”
“It’s not a…” I looked around, realizing my voice had gotten too loud. I leaned in and whispered. “It’s not a fuck date. But it’s at the club.”
