“You have no idea, Flynn. Jules would practically alert the media that I was bringing a guy home, and she’d be planning our wedding the second we stepped onto the island. God only knows what my brothers would do to you. They kidnapped Raz and held him over the edge of a cliff when he came home with Leni. My parents would be sweet and interested and treat you like family and get all up in your business, and my grandmother would try to convince you to become a dancer at Pythons. They’re like a giant whirlpool of warmth and good intentions. They’ll suck you in and never let you go.”
“The kidnapping is questionable, but all in all? That doesn’t sound so bad to me, Steele.”
As her mind spun and her heart soared, he lowered his lips to hers and kissed her breathless.
Chapter Twenty-Seven
THE WEEK PASSED in a blur of busy days and steamy nights. Sutton felt like she was living on cloud nine as her and Flynn’s lives continued to blend together. They were wrapping up the final edits for the rainforest episodes, the research for their next assignment was well under way, and she and Flynn were making plans for future outings together. On top of all of that goodness, it was Friday afternoon, and Sutton was leaving in half an hour to catch the ferry to the island. Archer was getting married tomorrow afternoon, and tonight she and Indi and all the girls were getting together at her parents’ house. She wished Flynn was going with her, but she didn’t want news of their relationship overtaking her brother’s wedding weekend.
“Ready to do the last one?” Ray’s voice came through the speaker in the sound room where she was finishing narrations.
She gave him a thumbs-up, the bracelet Flynn gave her sliding down her wrist. As always, it brought memories of that day and a smile.
Half an hour later, she headed out of the sound room, excited to get on her way.
“Great job, Sutton.” Ray looked up from the equipment. “Have a good time at your brother’s wedding.”
“Thanks. I’m sure I will. I’m glad your son is doing better.”
“Me too. But we’ll see how long it lasts.”
He turned back to the equipment, and she headed toward her office to gather her things. As she turned down the hall, she nearly bumped into Flynn, coming out of the supply room. In the space of a breath, those sexy blue eyes searched the empty hall, and he tugged her into the supply room and locked the door, kissing her like they hadn’t seen each other in a month. She was just as ravenous for him, their hands searching, bodies grinding.
He tugged up her skirt as she worked open his jeans. “I already miss you,” he rasped against her lips, sending her heart into a wild flurry. She palmed his thick length, and he groaned as she taunted, “What are you going to do about it?” His wolfish grin amped up her greediness for him. He shoved his jeans down as she stepped out of her panties, and their mouths fused together. She clung to him as he lifted her up and lowered her onto his cock, sending pleasure searing through her. Their moans were stifled by their brutal kisses, as they pounded out an urgent beat. Her back hit the wall, and he used it for leverage, taking her rougher, and soon they both spiraled out of control. Their bodies thrust and rocked as they swallowed their sounds of passion, until they collapsed, breathless and trembling, in each other’s arms.
He buried his face in her neck and nipped at her flesh. Her whole body shuddered with pleasure. “Jesus, Steele.” He lifted his head and gazed into her eyes with so much emotion, her body thrummed anew. “I will never get enough of you.”
“Can I get that in writing, please?”
He grinned and then he kissed her, long and slow and so perfectly, she was tempted to try to get him hard again. But she had a ferry to catch, and they were careful not to spend too long behind closed doors when they snuck away like this.
Several quick kisses later, Flynn hung back in the supply room as she hurried out and headed for the ladies’ room.
After cleaning herself up and touching up her makeup, she headed into her office, and found a manila envelope on her chair. She recognized the strong, determined strokes of Flynn’s handwriting across the front, which mirrored the man himself—Ms. Sutton Steele—Personal and confidential. She opened the envelope and withdrew a gorgeous gunmetal-blue leather journal with her name embossed on the front cover and a pretty silver button stud enclosure. There was a note sticking out of the top.
Steele, I noticed you were nearing the end of your journal when we were in the rainforest. I thought you’d like this one. I took the liberty of jotting down a few notes about our trip so you wouldn’t forget any of it. Feel free to share them with your family. Braden
She ran her hand over the soft leather, falling a little harder for him as she opened and read what he’d written.
The Amazon Rainforest
• You were constantly wet.
• It was always raining. You thought you’d get two inches, but you got nine.
• I made sure you had wood every night to keep the fire burning.
• You were a real trooper. Always willing to do the hard stuff and get on your knees to stoke the flames.
• We had a rough start but ended up hammering things out.
• I rode you often, and you were eager to get me off.
• Remember how thirsty we were at the waterfall? We sure took a deep dive that day.
• Don’t forget to tell them how nice you were to me. I mean, stroking my head at night? So sweet.
• You might not want to mention the anaconda at the river.
