“I’m glad. I wanted to give you something so you’d always remember our time in the rainforest together.”

Did he really think she could forget a minute of the time they’d spent together there?

He took her hand in his and touched the bracelet. “The two leather chords symbolize us, and the tan color is so you never forget the worms we ate.”

She laughed softly.

He brushed his thumb over a knot. “These are lovers’ knots, and the pink glass beads remind me of you, how feminine you are, and of that unforgettable pink bikini.” He touched a blue bead. “Your favorite color beads are for our waterfall.”

She got choked up.

“And the seven knots and two gold beads represent the seventy-two hours we spent there.” He touched the button, his gaze flicking briefly to Erin, who was watching them with a tender expression. His lips curved up in a secret smile that reached his eyes. “These flowers are for the pink flowers I put out for you while we were there.”

Her heart swelled to near bursting. “I love it even more knowing why you chose each piece.”

He held her gaze, his thumb gently stroking the back of her hand. “I know you’re a glamour girl, and you might be more into diamonds and gold, and I love that about you. But that’s all the world sees, and I’ll always see you as you were in the rainforest. In all your natural beauty and resilience.”

She threw her arms around him, struggling to keep tears at bay. “I love it so much. Thank you.”

“Don’t worry. I don’t expect you to wear it all the time. I just wanted you to have it.”

She held his gaze. “I’m never taking it off.”

“I wouldn’t either,” Erin said. “That was just beautiful. My husband, Jacob, better step up his game.”

Sutton laughed. “Erin, this is Flynn, my…?” Boss? Boyfriend? She glanced at him.

“I’m her dirty little secret.” He put a finger over his lips and whispered, “Shh. Don’t tell anyone.”

“Your secret is safe with me.” Erin winked. “Here you go, honey.” She handed Sutton the bag. “I put my daughter’s card in the bag. If you run into any problems, just reach out to her.”

“Will do. Thank you for all of your help. It was nice to meet you.”

“It was a pleasure meeting both of you as well. Enjoy the rest of your day.”

As they walked away, Sutton couldn’t stop looking at her bracelet or the man who made her feel special with every little thing he did and said. “I really love my bracelet, and this town, and this whole day.” I want a million more days like this with you.

“I could get used to doing this with you, too, Steele.” He tucked her beneath his arm and kissed her temple.

How did he always know what she was thinking? As they meandered through more booths, she said, “Going to places like this is one of the things I miss about living on the island.”

“Do they have a lot of craft shows?”

“They have quite a few, and the Winter Walk, which is like a giant sidewalk sale. But each town has its own events throughout the year, so there’s always something going on.”

“Then we’ll do more of this so you don’t miss it so much. What else do you miss?”

“Small-town stuff. Knowing people everywhere I go, which also has its downside, but mostly it’s nice. I miss friends and family, and I swear Joey and Hadley are more grown-up every time I see them.”

“You should get home more often.”

“I’ve been a little busy banging my boss lately,” she whispered as they walked out of a booth.

He drew her into his arms, flashing that sexy grin. “Maybe one day you’ll want to bang your boss on the island.”

Was he trying to make her heart explode today? “As much as I would love that, and as much as I love my family, they’d send you running for the hills.”

“I doubt that.”
