“What do you think you’re doing, Braden?”
“Thinking about what a lucky guy I am.” He skimmed his free hand down her chest, over the swell of her breast, and traced around her nipple with his fingertips, loving the way her breath caught. “Did it get you hot, prancing around with no panties on, waiting for me to notice?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” she said with an arch of her brow.
“Damn right I do.” He brushed his lips over hers, his fingers trailing down her body. He slid one finger over her clit and through her wetness. The breath rushed from her lungs. “Mm. My girl is already wet for me.” He lowered his lips to hers in a slow, sensual kiss that took her up on her toes, her moans making him ache for her. He continued teasing her with slow strokes over her clit and through her swollen sex, in a languid rhythm that had her hips pressing forward and her moans turning to whimpers. “What do you want, sweetheart? A little of this?” He pushed two fingers inside her, and she gasped. He reclaimed her mouth, kissing her deeply and passionately, while stroking that magical spot inside her, until she tore her mouth away, crying out as she shattered against his hand.
When she came down from the peak, her cheeks flushed, eyes fluttering open, so full of emotions, his chest constricted. “I’m so glad you’re mine.”
“Then show me how glad,” she pleaded.
He shed his boxer briefs and lifted her into his arms. As he lowered her onto his cock, her legs wrapped around him, and she panted out, “Flynn,” as “Sutton” fell from his lips. He captured her mouth, pumping his hips, holding her ass and moving her along his length. She was so tight and hot and excruciatingly perfect, he gritted out, “I need more of you.”
He carried her into the bedroom, taking them both down to the bed. She smiled up at him with so much lust and trust and happiness, he wanted to bathe in it. He lowered his mouth to hers and began moving in a slow rhythm, savoring the feel of her tight heat swallowing every inch of him. She felt incredible, but it was the way she moved with him, totally in sync, and kissed him like she’d never get enough that brought an inescapable feeling of oneness.
He wanted to grab hold of that feeling and never let it go.
He broke their kiss, needing to see her face, and knew in an instant that she felt it, too. With that unforgettable sight imprinted in his soul, he reclaimed her mouth, and they both sparked hotter. They groped and clawed, bit and nipped, his growls and her pleas filling the room. She hooked her heels around his legs as he drove into her. But it still wasn’t enough. God, would anything ever be? He pushed his hands under her ass, lifting her hips, and angled his body, driving in deeper. She gasped, her pussy tightening like a vise around his cock.
“Again,” she begged.
“You’re fucking incredible.” He lifted her hips higher, taking her even deeper, every squeeze of her inner muscles sending him closer to the edge.
“Kiss me,” she pleaded, pulling his mouth to hers. Their tongues tangled, their bodies rocked, and they lost themselves in a new, seductive beat as erratic as a summer storm. He buried his fingers in her hair, reveling in the sounds she made, the feel of her hands exploring his body, the sensual way she moved, and the sweetness of her mouth. Desire seared through his veins as her thighs flexed beneath him. Her fingernails cut into his flesh, and she cried out into their kisses as her orgasm claimed her. He tried to stave off his release, but he was too far gone and tore his mouth away on a curse. He gritted out her name, following her into ecstasy, their bodies slick from their efforts, their moans and curses filling the air.
When he was bled dry, he dipped his head beside hers, cradling her beneath him as their breathing calmed and the haze of lust abated. He had no idea how he’d pretend she meant nothing to him at work, when he wanted her all to himself—a litany of endless days and passionate nights like they’d had in the rainforest. Suddenly the weekend felt like a ticking clock, the work week looming like a villain, and as Victory had suggested, he didn’t want to waste a second of it.
He kissed Sutton’s cheek, lips, and forehead and lifted his face to look at her. Her eyes fluttered open, a sweet smile curving her lips. “Stay with me.”
“I don’t think I could move even if I wanted to,” she said just above a whisper.
“I’m serious. Spend the weekend with me. We’ll take my boat out, I’ll let you check out my book collection, and I’ll even cook you dinner. Then we can spend tomorrow doing anything you want.”
Her eyes narrowed. “Does dinner include worms of any kind?”
“Only if you’re lucky.”
Her grin gave him her answer before she said a word. “That sounds wonderful, but I can’t just stay. I have to go home to get clothes.”
“We can make it a clothing-optional weekend.”
“I am not going on your boat naked.”
“My loss.” He rolled them onto their sides, keeping her close. He didn’t care if she wore a parka. He felt like he’d won the lottery. The woman he adored was his for the weekend. “I guess I can let you escape long enough to pack a bag. That’ll give me time to get provisions.” He kissed her softly. “Like hazelnut creamer for the morning.”
“Books and hazelnut coffee?” Her eyes lit up. “Careful, beast. I might never leave.”
As he lowered his mouth to hers, he whispered, “My evil plan is working.”
Chapter Twenty-Three
THE BRISK MORNING gave way to a warm afternoon, perfect for a lazy day on the lake. Flynn’s boat might be new to Sutton, but the sun glittering off the water and the gentle sway of the boat were soothingly familiar. The water had always had a calming effect on her, quieting the chaos of life, but being with Flynn made the experience feel new and different, like an adventure in relaxation. He’d surprised her and had stocked up on her favorite snacks and, as promised, hazelnut creamer. He’d even packed them lunch. She had to remember to mention that to Leni. They’d talked when she’d gone home to change earlier, and the last thing Leni had said was Tell him if he’s not good to you, his family will find his body at the bottom of the lake. Flynn thought Archer was out of control, but Leni’s protective instincts were just as fierce.
They’d been out on the water for a long time, chatting and relaxing, and had cut the engine in the middle of the lake to eat lunch and soak up the sun. Sutton was so comfortable and happy, she couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. But she was still trying to wrap her head around the fact that they were together like this, sitting on opposite ends of the cushioned bench, her legs between his, as he read Gulliver’s Travels to her. As if they did this every weekend. They’d each brought other books, but she’d missed having him read to her.
She admired him in his cargo shorts and T-shirt as he read. His hair brushed the edge of his sunglasses in the breeze. He held his most treasured book in one hand. His other hand rested on her calf, his fingers absently stroking it. She’d never had this type of comfortable togetherness with a guy. She’d lived her life aiming for the career she’d always wanted, and everything she did was with that goal in mind. The journalist in her wanted to understand everything about how they got here and who she was when she was with him. But the woman in her reveled in not having all the answers about her and Flynn and just allowing herself to be in these beautiful moments with him, discovering new things about herself as they were unearthed by their coupledom.
Flynn looked up from the book, giving her leg a squeeze. “Are you bored?”
