Leni’s eyes lit up. “Seth. Hi. I didn’t know you were in town.”
Seth? This was Flynn’s nerdy brother? Now she wished she really had googled pictures of his brothers. Without thinking, Sutton quickly cataloged his outfit. He wore a tan cardigan like her grandfather used to wear, with the top and bottom buttons undone, a plaid shirt, one side of which peeked out from under the hem of his sweater, light-gray skinny slacks, and white sneakers. He was with two other good-looking brown-haired men.
“I came back to celebrate my brother’s birthday.” Seth smiled at Sutton. “I recognize you from Discovery Hour. You’re Leni’s sister Sutton, right?”
“Yes, I am.” Sutton offered her hand, and he shook it. “It’s nice to meet you.”
“You as well. I’ve heard a lot about you,” Seth said.
Her nerves flamed. Had Flynn told him what had happened between them?
“So have I,” the younger of the two other guys said as he stepped forward. He looked casual in jeans and an untucked white linen shirt with the sleeves rolled up. “Hi, I’m Seth’s brother Noah, and you are even more beautiful in person than you are on television.” He offered his hand, revealing leather and beaded bracelets around one wrist.
“Thank you.” She shook his hand, noticing his similarities to Flynn. He had the same strong jaw and blue eyes. His hair was longish on top and shorter on the sides than Flynn’s, though his jaw was just as scruffy. But he had a playful air about him and lacked the edginess Flynn possessed.
“Beauty must run in the family,” Noah said, eyeing Leni. “It’s nice to meet you, Leni. You are stunning, too.”
“Thank you,” Leni said. “My fiancé thinks so.”
“All right, Noah, back off.” Seth clapped a hand on his shoulder. “She’s engaged to Duncan Raznick.”
“Seriously?” Noah cocked a brow. “We know Dunc. He grew up with our cousins in Pleasant Hill, Maryland. The man’s clearly got great taste in women.”
“Excuse our baby brother. He was raised with monkeys,” the third guy said. “I’m their brother Clay.”
“It’s nice to meet you,” Sutton said.
“I recognize you from the underwear ads,” Leni said.
Clay flashed a megawatt smile. “That’s nice to hear. Women are rarely looking at my face in those ads.”
Sutton laughed.
Leni rolled her eyes. “Whose birthday is it?”
“Flynn’s,” Seth answered. “He’s over there with Victory.”
His sister? He’s not on a date? Sutton shot a glance at Leni, who caught it ever so coolly, cautiously giving her a look that said not to get too excited. Too late. Although she wondered why Flynn hadn’t mentioned his birthday to her.
“He thinks he’s having dinner with me, Clay, and Vic,” Seth explained. “We’re surprising him with Noah. Why don’t you join us?”
Sutton waved them off. “That’s okay. We don’t want to intrude on family time.”
“You’re not intruding,” Seth assured them. “The more the merrier, and I think Flynn would be upset if we didn’t invite you.”
I don’t know about that.
“Leni?” Seth urged. “It’ll be nice to enjoy a meal without talking about work, and I’m sure Vic would love to see you.”
“I’d like to catch up with her. What do you think, Sutton?” Leni looked at her, brows raised in question, but her eyes said, Let’s go get the scoop on Flynn.
Sutton’s heart raced. She was torn between wanting to spend time with Flynn and wondering if everything Leni said about him was right, even though it didn’t feel that way. Would it be better to cut those hopeful ties now? “I don’t know—”
“Come on. It’ll be fun,” Clay promised.
Noah slung an arm around her. “We can get to know each other better.”
They were already on the move toward the table. She eyed Leni, who shrugged, as if to say, guess we’re joining them.
