He took a picture of the view of the water and sent it to her.

Sutton: You live on the water? Lucky! It’s so pretty.

Flynn: I’m contemplating taking my boat over to Silver Island and scoping out the Panty Parade.

Sutton: You mean the Bra Brigade? I’m starting to worry about you. Being interested in older women is one thing, but my grandmother?

Flynn: I didn’t mean the BB. I meant the Panty Parade. You probably weren’t part of that group. It’s for women who prefer men over battery-operated boyfriends.

Sutton sent a cracking-up emoji.

Sutton: I skipped that group and put together a group called the Pleasure Platoon, for women who enjoy both. She added a hot-faced emoji.

He chuckled, enjoying their banter a little too much. He was this close to suggesting they give her fellow Platooners something to talk about and ended the conversation before he made that mistake.

Flynn: There you go, being inappropriate with your boss again.

She sent an emoji with a raised eyebrow.

Flynn: Maybe you should give those batteries a rest and get some sleep.

Sutton: But I’m not done with your brothers yet.

Three more hot-faced emojis popped up.

Flynn gritted his teeth, thumbing out, Good night, Steele.

Sutton: It’s going to be a VERY good night.

A smirking emoji popped up.

“Fuck.” He tossed his phone on the couch, stripped off his sweats on his way outside, and dove into the lake, hoping the cold water would obliterate thoughts of her touching herself to images of his brothers.

Chapter Sixteen

SUTTON HAD THOUGHT she’d sleep like a log last night, but after texting with Flynn, she’d slept fitfully. Her dreams were full of the rainforest, revisiting the sounds and fears, rendering her anxious and rattled, and reliving the sexy times with Flynn in vivid detail, which left her hot, bothered, and beyond frustrated. She’d spent the last half hour trying to figure out why he’d reached out last night. It was driving her nuts. She was glad he had, but it was like he’d known she was lying in bed thinking about him.

Irritated with herself for ruminating over him, she set down her phone and went to take a shower, focusing on her to-do list, at the top of which was a trip to the Beanery for about a gallon of hazelnut coffee before her nail appointment. Thank goodness she’d thought ahead and had booked a mani-pedi. Her nails look like she played in the dirt for a living.

As she stepped beneath the warm shower spray, her mind skipped back to the waterfall and Flynn, his mouth on hers, their naked bodies pressed together. No. No. No. He is not on my to-do list. Groceries. Focus on groceries. And laundry. I have to do laundry. That made her think of Flynn stripping off her bathing suit and the feel of his rough hands exploring her body. She futilely tried to fight the heat those memories brought, but it was like trying to stop the wind, so she gave herself over to them, moving her hand between her legs. Flynn’s deep voice whispered gruffly in her ear. Even underwater I can feel how slick you are for me. She closed her eyes, picturing his handsome face and desire-filled eyes, working herself right up to the verge of release, feeling his thick fingers inside her, hearing his gruff voice coaxing her along. That’s it, baby. Give that tight pussy what it needs. She quickened her efforts, letting the memories flow, until his name tore from her lungs. She pressed one hand to the cold tile, her body quivering and quaking. Eyes closed, she savored his image as she rode out the orgasm thoughts of him had brought, which sadly, weren’t anywhere near as satisfying as the man himself.

SHE WAS RUNNING late when she finally headed out the door for her nail appointment and was met by a young guy ascending her porch steps. “Hi. Can I help you?”

“I have a delivery for Sutton Steele.”

“That’s me.”

He handed her a coffee carrier from the Beanery with two to-go cups in it. “Enjoy.”

As he headed for his car, she called after him, “Who sent this?”

He glanced back at her and held up his palms. “I have no idea. I’m just the delivery guy.”

“Thank you.” She headed to her car and climbed in, wondering who had sent the coffee. Part of her hoped it was Flynn, but it was more likely one of her sisters or Andi, who were all very supportive of her coffee addiction. She transferred one cup to the cupholder and took a sip from the other. Sweet, warm hazelnut brought a smile. Her phone chimed with a text. She put the cup in the cupholder, hoping it was Flynn and hating herself for wanting it to be him.

She saw Leni’s name on the screen and decided there would be absolutely, positively no more foolish hoping. She read her sister’s text as she started the car.

Leni: I’m glad you and Flynn didn’t kill each other, and I’m dying to hear about your trip, but I have a crazy week. Catch up over dinner Friday? Can you meet me in the city?
