Leni moved from in front of the three-way mirror, motioning for Victory to step up to it. “That’s a seriously hot outfit. You could take it straight from the boardroom to the bedroom.”

Victory strutted over to the mirror. “The boardroom, yes, but it’s been so long since I’ve had a man in my bedroom, I’m not sure I’d know what to do with him.”

“Well, if you’re looking, you’ll have guys lining up in that outfit.” Sutton hung the clothes she’d carried in on a hook in a dressing area and closed the curtain to take off her clothes.

“No, thank you,” Victory said. “My life is perfect just the way it is. I go to the gym, and to work, and to my favorite restaurant every Thursday night.”

“Flynn is worried that you don’t have enough fun.” She put on a short-sleeve salmon-colored dress and began buttoning it.

“I know. My whole family is,” Victory said. “My brothers push me to get out there and meet someone, but I already met the love of my life, and he’s gone. I’m not looking for a replacement.”

“I get that,” Leni said. “Now that I’m with Raz, I can’t imagine being with anyone else.”

Sutton wrapped the thin leather belt around her waist and stepped out from behind the curtain. “Same with me, so please don’t think I’m pushing you.”

“I don’t.” Victory gave her a quick once-over. “That’s a great color on you.”

Leni peeked out from behind a dressing area curtain. “Oh, it is.”

“Flynn and I are hoping to visit your parents when they get back to Ridgeport. Do you think this will be okay? Not too dressy or too casual?”

“It’s perfect, but my parents wouldn’t care if you showed up in sweats. They’re really down to earth. They only care that you treat Flynn well and you guys make each other happy.” Victory stepped away from the mirror, allowing Sutton to get a better look at herself.

“That’s what Flynn said, but I still want to make a good impression.” Sutton looked herself over. “I love the flow of this dress. I think I’ll buy it.”

“I’m going to get this outfit, too.” Victory headed back into her dressing area as Leni came out of hers and said, “I’m taking the green dress.”

“Hallelujah,” Victory called out.

“I have one more to try on. I’ll only be a minute.” Sutton headed into her dressing area and took off the dress. She put on her white blouse and tried on a charcoal suit with bold blue windowpane checks and a cinched, belted waist. She slipped on her heels and went to take a look.

Leni and Victory were waiting for her, their eyes widening with appreciation.

“Now, that’s a suit,” Leni said.

“I love windowpanes,” Victory said, the two of them circling Sutton, eyeing her from head to toe. “You should wear that to the interview.”

“You definitely should,” Leni agreed. “You look smart. With your personality, and that suit, you’ll win them over.”

Sutton’s stomach twisted. She looked in the mirror, taking note of her creased brow and the uncertainty in her eyes.

“What’s wrong?” Leni asked.

“You don’t like it?” Victory asked.

“No, it’s beautiful. I just…” She looked at them, needing to talk to someone about what she was feeling, and blurted out, “I’m not even sure I want the job.”

“Why?” they both asked.

“Because now that Flynn and I are getting along, I like everything about my job, and I love working with Flynn. We make a good team.”

“Oh boy.” Leni sighed. “Here we go.”

“What does that mean?” Sutton asked with irritation.

“It means you’ve worked your ass off to get a job like the one at GNN, and now you’re thinking of throwing it away because you’re falling for Flynn. If he’s the right guy, he’ll support you no matter where you’re living.”

“He is supportive in every way. He’s encouraging me to go for this job, and if I get it, he’s willing to do a long-distance relationship. He wants me to pursue my dreams.”
