Daphne winced. “We were waiting until after the weekend to tell everyone because we didn’t want to steal Indi and Archer’s thunder.”

“You’re not stealing it; you’re sharing it. I’m so excited for you,” Indi exclaimed.

“In that case…” Daphne’s eyes danced with delight. “We’re having twins.”

Jules squealed, and everyone talked at once, hugging and congratulating Daphne.

“No wonder you’ve been sick. That’s a double dose of hormones,” their mother said.

“Peppermint tea helped me with morning sickness,” Meredith said.

“I’ll try anything,” Daphne said.

“How is Jock handling the news?” their mother asked.

“He’s over the moon, but he checks on me every hour. Sometimes it drives me a little crazy, but after all he’s been through, I understand. And after going through my first…with a man who wasn’t excited about any of it, I don’t mind being driven a little crazy.”

“I’m so happy for your little family.” Their mother hugged her. “And for our big family.”

“These little ones are going to be so loved,” their grandmother said.

“They already are.” Daphne was beaming. “You should see how many books on babies and pregnancy Jock bought. The man is obsessed.”

“Aunt Daphne, you’re having two babies?” Joey asked.

“Are we getting a baby, Mama?” Hadley asked excitedly.

“Shoot,” Daphne whispered. She crouched between Joey’s and Hadley’s chairs. “Yes, we’re having two babies. They’re growing in Mommy’s belly, and you’re going to be a big sister, Had.”

“I’m gonna be a big sister?” Hadley exclaimed. “I’ll be a good sister!”

“I know you will, baby,” Daphne said. “I guess I have to stop calling her baby.”

“Nonsense,” their mother said. “Children grow up, but in our hearts they’re always our babies.”

Everyone made a big deal over Hadley becoming a big sister, and Hadley beamed at them, rattling on about things she’d do with the babies.

“Tara, can we tell them our news since Daphne said she’s having two babies?” Joey asked.

Crimson spread over Tara’s cheeks. “I think you just did,” she said, sparking more excitement as everyone converged on her and congratulated Joey on becoming a big sister.

“Should we move your wedding date up?” Daphne asked.

“Actually, we were hoping to put off the wedding until after the baby is born so we can focus on Joey and getting ready for our new little one.”

“I think that’s a fabulous idea,” their mother said.

“When are you guys due?” Sutton asked.

Daphne said, “November fourteenth,” at the same time Tara said, “November ninth.”

“Fall babies. How wonderful,” their grandmother said. “But, Daphne, twins may come early.”

“I know,” Daphne said.

“I need to get pregnant right away so our babies can grow up together!” Jules exclaimed. “We should all get pregnant!”

“No, we should not,” Leni said. “Some of us have things to accomplish before we have babies, but I’m super happy to be an aunt again.”
