Sutton felt like she might cry and hugged her brothers. “Thank you.”

“I appreciate that.” Flynn looked at Sutton, adoration gleaming in his eyes. “I think the world of your sister.”

“We know.” Levi cocked a grin. “We were just messing with you about the boss thing. Daphne and Tara gave us the scoop on you last night.”

“I really enjoyed meeting them, and your daughters. They’re both firecrackers. Hadley scowls like a pro. If Sutton hadn’t already filled me in, I’d’ve thought she’d learned it from Archer.”

Jock shook his head. “She was already a queen scowler when I met her. Daphne said by the time they left last night, Hadley was following you around.”

“She was,” Sutton said. “It was the cutest thing.”

“She just wanted my cookies,” Flynn explained. “So, y’all are decorating the boat?”

“Yeah, we are,” Jock said, and he and Levi exchanged smirks.

Sutton crossed her arms. “What are you really up to? Are you pranking them?”

“Who, us?” Levi asked incredulously.

“We’d never do that on their wedding day,” Jock said. “Weddings are sacred.”

“Mm-hm. I don’t even want to know.” She reached for Flynn’s hand. “Come on. Let’s grab lunch before I have to be back.”

“Hey, Flynn, you can hang with us when the girls are getting ready and help set up for the wedding,” Jock offered.

“Sounds good.”

Sutton narrowed her eyes, pointing at them. “Don’t you dare do anything bad to him.”

“Levi, didn’t we just say life is too short for extra drama?” Jock asked.

“Yes, brother, I believe we did,” Levi said.

“I can’t…” Sutton shook her head. “Let’s go, Flynn.”

“See you later,” Flynn said.

As they walked away, Levi said, “We look forward to it.”

Chapter Thirty

JULES AND LENI’S childhood bedroom was bustling with activity as the girls put the final touches on their hair and makeup, and Tara moved stealthily around the room taking pictures. Indi looked stunning in a sleek and simple backless ivory spaghetti-strap, mermaid-style silk gown. Her blond hair spilled over her shoulders in gentle waves as her sister, Meredith, and their mother, Monica, fawned over her. Since she and Archer were having an intimate family wedding, there was no best man or maid of honor, no groomsmen or bridesmaids, which meant no bridesmaid gowns.

All the girls looked beautiful in dresses of different styles and lengths. Joey and Hadley were coloring at the table. Joey was adorable in a fluffy pale blue dress with her biker boots, and Hadley was pretty in pink all the way down to her sandals. She and Daphne wore matching cap-sleeved dresses with shiny ribbons around their waists. Sutton felt the tug of longing that had been happening more often since Hadley had come into their lives, and Flynn’s voice whispered through her mind. I’m happy with my life. I want to stay close to family, continue to travel, and maybe have a family of my own one day. She wanted all those things, too, and she was pretty sure she wanted them with him.

But she was getting ahead of herself. She turned toward the full-length mirror, taking one last look at her seafoam chiffon dress with a fine mesh overlay and plunging neckline. She turned her back to the mirror and looked over her shoulder at the lace-up back.

“Let me take a look, honey.” Her grandmother moved behind her, stylish as ever in gorgeous wide-legged black pants with a matching cropped, short-sleeved silk jacket overtop a pale yellow blouse, with one of her colorful signature silk scarves. Her makeup was impeccable, her pixie styled to a T. Her pearl accessories pulled it all together.

Her grandmother fiddled with the ties on the back of her dress, then turned her by the shoulders and looked her over from head to toe. “Sweetheart, that beautiful man of yours is going to lose his mind when he sees you in that dress.”

“Thanks, Gram. I hope so.”

“What is this hope nonsense?” Leni asked, coming over to join them. She looked like a million bucks in a dark wine sleeveless dress that had a ruffled slit along one side. “We all look hot, and all of our men are going to lose their minds.”

“I know mine is,” Jules called out as she fiddled with her hair. “I tried my dress on last night just so he could strip it off me.” She looked sexy in a pale yellow dress with a fitted bodice and slim shoulder straps.

“Oh my,” Indi’s mother said.
