“I didn’t think anything could measure up to the boat or the winery vines in Archer’s eyes until he fell for Indi,” Sutton said.

“Ain’t that the truth,” Roddy added.

“Hey, gorgeous!” Wells hollered from the deck where he was hanging a just married sign off the railing.

“Hi, handsome,” Roddy hollered back, and they laughed.

“That’s Wells Silver,” Sutton explained. “Leni dated him in high school. He’s a good guy, but a bit of a player.”

“Is he the brother of the guy who was your first kiss?” Flynn asked.

“That’d be Fitz Silver,” Roddy said, and headed up the boat ramp chuckling.

“Got to love small-town gossip,” she said as they followed him onto the boat. Wells, Grant, and their friend Brant, one of Roddy’s sons, came over to greet them. Wells and Brant were as clean cut as Grant was shaggy haired. “Hi, guys.”

“Good to see you, beautiful.” Brant, a blue-eyed boatbuilder, kissed her cheek. “Give me that box, old man.” He took the box from Roddy and set it down.

“Hey, Sut.” Grant hugged her, his serious gaze curiously assessing Flynn.

“Get in here.” Wells tugged her into his arms, hugging her tight. “Damn, you even smell good.”

She rolled her eyes and tried to ignore the nervousness in her stomach as she introduced them to Flynn. “Guys, this is my boyfriend, Flynn. Flynn, this is Roddy’s son and one of our close friends, Brant, Jules’s husband, Grant, and his brother—”

“Wells Silver. Nice to meet you, man.” Wells shook his hand with a rascally look in his eyes. “You’re Sutton’s boyfriend, huh? What’s with all these outsiders stealing our island girls?”

“Ignore him,” Grant said. “You won my wife over last night. It’s nice to meet you.”

“She’s a trip,” Flynn said.

“It’s nice to meet you, man,” Brant said, and shook Flynn’s hand.

“You too,” Flynn said as Jock and Levi came out of the cabin.

“Hey, Sutton,” Jock said, exchanging a look with Levi that she couldn’t read as they made their way over.

Her nerves flamed, and she turned to Flynn. “That’s Jock and Levi. Jock has the darker hair, and Levi’s the one with the tattoos.”

“Guys, this is Flynn, Sutton’s boyfriend,” Grant said with a serious lilt.

Her brothers gave him a once-over as they shook his hand and exchanged greetings.

“Flynn? Aren’t you Sutton’s boss?” Levi asked.

“That sounds dicey,” Roddy said. “Brant, Wells, let’s go take care of these lights.”

Wells laughed. “You think I’m missing this?”

“Yes. I am her boss,” Flynn said. “And yes, I didn’t think she was qualified for the reporting job when we started working together, but your sister has blown me away every day since.”

“That sounds dirty,” Wells said under his breath.

Jock glowered at Wells.

“You’re done, little brother.” Grant clapped a hand on Wells’s shoulder and dragged him away to join Roddy and the others.

“Listen, Flynn, we all make mistakes,” Jock said. “Sutton’s a smart woman. If she’s with you, then so am I. Life’s too short for extra drama.”

“I’m with Jock on that,” Levi said.
